Alkmaar Farmstay

Alkmaar Farmstay is set in the heart of the Lowveld, in the Schagen Valley on the Maputo Corridor, 10 minutes from Nelspruit. This tranquil homestead and chalet of well-travelled Johann and Wanda Sippel, is within close proximity of the Kruger National Park. It is also perfectly located for exploring the Lowveld tourist attractions such as Blyde River Canyon, Pilgrim's Rest and the Sudwala Caves.

We offer self-catering units with bed and breakfast on request. The Bush Camp offers tented units with bedding, and is reserved for private groups with a minimum of four guests. There is a lapa function room and the bathroom facilities for the tents are shared. Units have linen, towels and tea and coffee facilities. All accommodation is serviced on a daily basis.

Alkmaar Farmstay is a birdwatcher's paradise, with nesting white-fronted bee-eaters, resident paradise flycatchers and long crested eagles being seen regularly. Hiking, bass fishing, kayaking and a scenic 4x4 route are available. It is also the ideal stopover en route to Mozambique.

"The Accomodation was amazing, Wanda upgraded us to rooms with aircon which was an absolute must. Rooms are beautiful and very clean, the farm is peaceful and great for fishing and for small children. David was always helpful and went out of his way to assist. A great place, we will definitely be back."

  • "Reception"

    19 September 2005

"A bit disappointed at the lack of any form of reception. On arrival the father of the son who runs the business just happened to see us arrive and then had to phone whoever to find out where we were booked in. No personal touch. When one pays good money for a place to stay you would expect at least a bit of attention or some kind of a welcome.Beside that the accomodation was not too bad.Once again when we left in the morning there was no one to see us off or to hand the keys to, so we just left them in the door and left"
