Zonnenstrahl Camping Ground

Situated on the outskirts of Nieu-Bethesda, in lush grounds with peaceful willow trees, the Zonnenstrahl Caravan Park is a fantastic choice if you are looking for affordable camping accommodation, in a quiet and relaxing environment.

Comprising eight sites, each camp site has access to power points, water points and braai facilities. The communal ablutions have two separate toilets and two showers.

The town of Nieu-Bethesda has been painted by tragedy, fertility and religion. More importantly it has a great sense of community and many historical sites. "The peaceful environment of the camping grounds. we were the only people there this time. I have been going to the camping grounds for the past 5+ years. I have watched over these years how the grounds have improved, building of the laundry and dish washing area, veranda in front of the ablutions, It is a place to regenerate the soul and have always enjoyed my stay there due to the quietness of the place, even when it has been full.Things to improve - Locks on ALL bathroom and toilet doors that work. Middle bathroom a mirror for shaving. Staff are friendly and most helpful."

"Booked this for our group of eight with no idea of what to expect. The site hasn't got many photos of their facilities and almost no online presence: Trip Adviser, Facebook, etc had nothing. The venue was very flexible with dates as we needed to change. The total was paid. We arrived and really couldn't believe what we found. The campsite is surrounded by willow trees (with more being planted. The shade was just what we needed on the hot days. The grass is green (the only place in the village like this) and not at all sandy. This meant that everything was clean when we packed up. The facilities are exceptional. A toilet unit, shower unit, and a toilet/shower combo. Even full length mirrors. Hot water flows perfectly. The ablutions are cleaned daily. A kitchen unit out front of the building is spacious with sinks and tables for prepping food. Not very usable in the earlier morning with the sun beating down on it, but seeing as we used gas stoves we just moved them under the trees. One of the bathrooms has a lock but the others don't. Not a problem when you're with your own group, but if others had been there it might have been uncomfortable. This is the only issue. And it's an easy fix. The facility needs more of a presence though. We wanted to do check ins etc to create some awareness of the place but just couldn't. It'll get good reviews from us to anybody that asks, and is going to be an annual visit on our camping group itinerary. Establishment's response: Good day Alan Thanks for stunning review. "We were lucky to have dry ground and space for both families camping together. The location was quite adequate from which to visit the village and the brewery close by was splendid. This offered value for money. Ablutions were pretty decent, but it would have been ideal to have another full bathroom."
