"We stayed in the Bachelor flat which was equipped with everything you could possibly need. The flowers on the farm were beautiful and abundant."
"I only found out that Nieuwoudtville had a predecessor when I visited the timeless sandstone church in the dorp... the original church stood on Willemsrivier farm, okay, but why? So staying over on Willemsrivier, we stayed in he original trading store amongst several cottages, old goal, thrashing floor, outdoor baking oven, church, school and fountain. When the Van Rhyns pass was built, Nieuwoudtville proper was established about 2km south along the way to Calvinia... where water is available in greater abundance. This is a walk back in time... a must for history lovers. Great host, no shortage of details!"
"Baie vriendelike gasvrou. Gastehuis met interessante geskiedenis!"
"The cottage is lovely and rustic in finches and ancient places but it was very cold and the roof leaked in the kitchen. Would be awesome in summer."
"Friendly and helpful people!"
"The simplicity. Inproment sometimes encroached on natural beauty. I like it as it is."
"The indoor fire place was an absolute winner. This made the experience!"
"Incredibly interesting. Precious little piece of history of the region. We thoroughly enjoyed our trip there as well as our stay."
"Absolutely amazing stay!!!!!!!!!"
"Everything was exellent and above my expectations"
"Spacious, private and good value for money"
"Most pleasant. Very friendly hosts. This was one of the highlights of our trip."
"We only stayed one night but found the unit neat and clean. Everything that we needed was available and the electric blankets were gratefully used as it was a very cold night. Reception excellent and overall no complaints."
"Amazing value for money. And the History of the place just overwhelms."
"We found that it was comfortable and clean but everything needs a bit of TLC - everything is a bit antiquated, especially the kitchen and bathrooom, both need upgrading."
"We were welcomed by our very hospitable host and had a comfortable stay in a typical farm house. Very relaxing"
"The cottage is located on a working farm and attached to the main house. It is very roomy and well equipped. Our hostess was most gracious and kindly provided all the information to find places where the flowers were in bloom just at the beginning of the season. The rooms can be found a bit cold in winter but beds are fit with electric blankets."
"Die blomme op die plaas is asemrowend mooi, atmosfeer is rustig en ontspanne. Ons was baie vriendelik ontvang en die gasvrou was baie behulpsaam en gasvry. Ons het `n hele braaikamer vir ons self gehad met al die nodige toerusting.Ons sal beslis weer daar wil bly en sal dit ook aanbeveel. Dis ook naby die dorp en die grondpad was nie `n probleem nie."
"Comfortable stay, but more than that it was fascinating to experience a stay on a family farm held for a few centuries. Most of the original buildings look to be preserved complimented by the furniture and some appliances. Lovely and unique experience that my wife and I certainly enjoyed, though we are both city people. I gave it one star less only because the bed wasn't too comfortable - however, my wife slept like a baby."
"Second time at the farm. Thoroughly enjoyable and the flowers were outstanding. Brian & Lorrette Hancock."
"These charming old world cottages have been lovingly restored in typical Namaqualand style to take you back 200 yearsin history without having to sacrifice any luxury or creature comforts. The fine attention to detail in the dcor of each cottage is something to appreciate. This is a must visit when in Nieuwoudtville .Highly reccommended<br /><br /><br />"
"I found the farm and surrounds fascinating, full of history with an interesting museam, old buildings, helpfull owners. The flowers were so good around the farm we didn't see anything better elsewhere. They are conveniently close to the koker boom forest and waterfall yet also only 4km from town. The accommodation was very spacious but basic, no frills. Bare light bulbs etc. However it was clean and had everything we needed.<div><br /></div><div>Linda JHB<br /><div><br /></div></div>"
"Very nice and comfortable, we enjoyed our stay."
"We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 days in the Joodse Winkel. The setting and the history all around the village was outstanding."
"Loved this little farm house. So many real "olden day" items. Quiet and peaceful. Very warm and friendly welcome when we arrived."
"We had a very pleasant stay with memories of our farm holidays many years ago. The house was very neat and fully equipped. The reception by the owner was welcoming and friendly and she made us feel at home. It was very cold and the electric blankets were a blessing. Unfortunately the inside "braai" smoked a lot and we had to open all doors and windows to get rid of the smoke which was not perfect for a cold evening. In spite of this it was wonderful waking up to the sound of sheep and cocks crowing and to feel the fresh, unpolluted air on your face."
"We had an unforgettable two days at Willemsrivier Trekpad Guest Houses (Peperboom). The unit is well equipped with everything you could possibly need. The inside braai (with a light) and all the braai utensils were truly appreciated. We bought our wood and meat from Erika at the farm. Excellent! The information booklet on the history of the farm and the old buildings add to the experience. Peperboom is an old but beautiful restored house. The plumbing and electricity is brand new and thus in splendid working condition and thanks for a reading light that makes it possible to actually read in bed! The flowers in Nieuwoudtville (and in and around Willemsrivier) are fabulous. Erika and Arend Kotzes knowledge of the flowers and the vicinity, as well as their hospitality, adds to the extraordinary experience."
