Avoca Lodge
Avoca Lodge is nestled in a quiet and rural part of Benoni 13 km away from O.R. Tambo International Airport (previously Johannesburg International). The owner Michelle Smith has created a contemporary ambience in a tranquil country setting, which will delight and surprise one, while the fabulous homemade fare will ensure ones stay is remembered long after departure.
Mandy and Sebastian are the wonderful, hospitable hosts who run Avoca Lodge. They live on the property and overseas visitors will experience the uniqueness of sharing a day in the life of a South African household.
The lodge offers four types of accommodation. There are two double rooms, both with en suite bathroom/showers. They have their own private entrance; ensuring guests can come and go as they please. Each room has their own television and fridge along with a complimentary tea, coffee and homemade biscuits. The fridges are stocked with beer, carbonated soft drinks, fruit juice and bottled water.
If you need to exert some energy after lazing around in the hammocks by the pool you can walk down the road to Koi Mecca. This has a Silver Smith shop on site with unique products made from South American silver.
Facilities close by include, Kopanong Hotel and Conference Center, Capricorn Stables, Grasslands Driving range, Homestead Dam, gym, shopping malls with cinemas, Emperors Palace Casino, Benonis various Golf Country Clubs
House breakfast is served daily and guests can choose from three delightful venues. Enjoy your fruit salad and yogurt on the patio overlooking the neighboring horses, ostriches and guinea fowl. Or take your Eggs, bacon, sausages and tomato (infused with home grown Rosemary) into the French courtyard or stay in your room and enjoy all the above including toast, homemade jam and tea or coffee.
Evening meals are served on request at reasonable rates and we strive to accommodate individual requirements within reason. Should you have any specific dietary requirements we would appreciate your recipes.

15 January 2014"We were taking part in an endurance race in Delmas and the owners were patience with all our change in plans.Check in and breakfast ordering by the gardener was less that satisfactory.The room had no fan or air-con and the windows had no security bars so we couldn't leave them open which made for a stuffy room.For the price we expected more.Sorry I don't like to moan but these are honest points and easily remedied.The lodges is at the end of a hell of a road not so easy to change I know."

01 June 2008"I stayed overnight for a long layover in Johannesburg, and Michelle was helpful, friendly, and lovely!My baggage was checked through to my final destination (by accident!) and Michelle helped me out with some pajama's and a shirt to wear the next day.The room was beautiful as was the whole house - pictures don't really do it justice :) Thanks so much!I had fun!"

15 January 2008"Short and very sweet. Only spent one night, but it wish it would have been more. Very safe, comfortable grounds, with wonderfully hospitable and friendly owners. Close to the airport and major shopping centers made it an ideal stop over before flying home. I would recommend Avoca Lodge any time."
