  • "Delightful country retreat in the city"

    18 July 2016

"From the beautiful vista of the house and garden as we drove in, to the super comfortable bedroom and bathroom, our stay at Abbotsford House was great.<div>I am glad I went by the reviews on TripAdvisor and decided to book.<div>And the location excellent as we wanted to be close to Melrose Arch. The pricing was really very good value - way cheaper than anywhere else in the area.</div></div>"

  • "An over priced misleadingly advertised B&B to avoid at all costs"

    25 March 2015

"1.The advertisement listing the features and selling points of this B&amp;B were at the very least misleading;<div>2.A major security risk in a city (Johannesburg) renowned for its level of crime - scaffolding outside my first floor window that remained there during my entire stay and a building site immediately next door where one's comings and goings were watched with great interest - not the environment for a female travelling alone;<br /><div><ul> <li>3. The gardens were NOT (as advertised) peaceful or attractive to sit in, they doubled up as parking spot for three to four paramedic/emergency response vehicles and the storage of cans of paint and other paraphernaliarelating to the maintenance and repairs that was being undertaken during my stay;</li> <li>4. The cupboards in the room had not been emptied and contained someone else's underwear!!!</li> <li>5. The cooked breakfast was an insult - a single greasy over fried egg was presented on my first morning - no choice offered;</li> <li>6. The en suite bathroom was sorely in need of a good scrub and some maintenance - shower did not drain properly and towel rail over bath was broken and held together with dirty brown masking/packing tape and no spare loo paper insight.</li></ul><div></div></div></div><div>To summarize a B&amp;B to be avoided at all costs and vastly over priced.</div>"
