There are plenty of accommodation options to choose from, depending on the size of the group and purpose of the stay. All accommodation is equipped with a small stove and clean bathroom facilities. Stay in one of the two dormitories, the servants quarters that had been refurbished to sleep six on bunk beds, or The Thatch Hatch, a small cottage that sleeps three people.
Set in a tranquil, natural valley in the heart of the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands, the farm has over 600 km of mountain biking or hiking paths and offer activities like fly-fishing and clay pigeon shooting.
Watkins Farm have taken over 1000 kids on tour. We also cater for societies, photographers, retreats and outdoor clubs and groups of mates swimming the Midmar Mile, guests sweating away at mountain biking or golfing competitions, or perhaps even attending music festivals.

"It was lovely say, we really enjoy your short time there. It was a wonderful stay. My older Daughter love the horse and the boat ride, my younger Daughter love paddling in the dam. it was a beautiful area. Thank you so much"
"Warm friendly hosts, at bargain price. Could not have been made more welcome."
"Perfect little spot for young travelers, tranquil and beautiful, with an entertaining, charismatic, old-school British host, who just had enough time to straighten my fianc's bow tie before we ran off to a wedding ! Stayed in the Thatch Hatch, with all the basics provided AND extra blankets, and left in the morning after a cuppa' with all the guests ! Best ! We will be back !! x"
"Beautiful place BUT hygiene thrown out the window!!!"
"Our son was getting married at Curries Post so we booked our staff into Watkins Backpackers and arranged for a friend to transport them there. What he saw when he arrived so appalled him that he immediately arranged alternative accommodation at another lodge. He told me that the cottage was filthy, the toilet broken and the accommodation was primitive. You should not be listing this place on your web site. I threw away R600 and caused major inconvenience by choosing this place."
"The setting is stunning and the welcome wonderful. We were however really disappointed in the accommodation (even for a backpackers). Firstly the place reeked of gas when we walked in; to such an extent that the gas had to be turned off and we had to air the dorm room before we could dare sleep in there. Secondly the beds certainly have bugs. I am not a fussy person, but had it not been for the terrible thunder/rain storm we had, I might have packed up and left. Thirdly, only one of us could have a hot shower in the morning because of the way the gas geyser is set. All-in-all not a place I will recommend to any of my friends or relatives."
"Excellent value for money in a serene setting. Reggie was most helpful and accommodating. The only downside was the dirt roads in a small vehicle."
"It was great! Thank you."
