  • "A must visit for sure"

    31 October 2016

"If you like being greeted like an old friend, treated like the most valuable customer ever and enjoy clean and neat accommodation, then Hardeveld Lodge is the place for you.<br/><br/>Just far enough from Cape Town to feel you are away from it all, but close enough so it's not a drag to get there, Hardeveld Lodge offers the perfect base from which to explore the Knersvlakte and surrounding areas.<br/><br/>There's so many great nature scenes to see in the surrounding area that you definitely have to stay over a few nights to explore them all. Take your 4x4 on vast sand roads and back roads, see scenes seldom seen and enjoy the wonder of this dry yet lovely bit of our country."

  • "Friendliest place on earth"

    06 January 2016

"We just returned from Namibia and needed a place to stay over on our way to Cape Town. Hardeveld Lodge was such a friendly oasis with options for every traveler. You can camp out on lawn (like we did), you can camp out in tents provided by the lodge, you can stay in the guesthouse or stay in a room that has a fenced off garden for your dogs to run around in. On top of that, Kobus makes an amazing breakfast with eggs, bacon, sausage, flapjacks and homemade jams- highly recommended!"

  • "Ideal half way stop"

    23 October 2015

"This is the perfect stop for a trip from Cape town to Namibia. Kobus and Fey are very welcoming and helpful. Kobus gave us advice on all the roads for our trip together with lots of other information. We had a 2 bed self catering cottage and it had everything you need. The place was spotless. It is safe and the grounds are worth a look around with lots of fruit trees. Our parting gift was two beautiful lemons from the tree for G&amp;T's :-)<br />Highly recommended.<br /><br />"

  • "Warm welcome"

    17 August 2015

"We stayed at Hardeveld Lodge as an overnight between Cape Town and Namibia. The owner, Kobus, was very welcoming, accommodating and enthusiastic. The rooms were clean and comfortable and there was safe parking behind a gate which meant we didn't have to unpack all our luggage, which was great. I would certainly consider staying there again. <br />"

  • "Satisfactory stay"

    12 July 2013

"This made a good stopover on our journey. A neat and spacious room made for a peaceful night's sleep. The owners made our stay as comfortable as possible by giving us access to their shielded braai area as it was quite windy. We also enjoyed the herbs they shared with us."

  • "A real gem!"

"What a suprize! Lovely accomodation. Very clean and neat. We enjoyed our stay, and would recommend Nuwerus to everyone. Herwig was a great host."

  • "Overnight stop"

    29 December 2012

"We stayed at the lodge overnight en route from Cape Town to Namibia. We had an apartment to ourselves which was more than we really needed. The place was spotless and clean. After a long drive, all we wanted was to crash out but the owner Herwig was really keen for us to sample fruit and vegetables from his organic garden! A wonderful old man with a lot of life in him. Would certainly recommend this lodge to others."

  • "An exceptional experience"

    30 September 2012

"This was the best accommodation that we have experienced during our trip to South Africa The accommodation was OK, and the friendliness of the owner was exceptional. But not only this, the owner is an amateur herpetologist, and when he knew that we were there for an entomological research expedition he offered to accompany us to the most interesting places in the surrounding, that we would never be able to find. With very important results! So in all an extremely pleasant stay, even though for only one day."

  • "Enjoyed"

  • "A good place to stop"

    01 November 2011

"This guest house in Nuwerus is a little gem in the middle of nowhere. The room was extremey comfortable and the bath in our en-suite was positively cavernous! We ate our evening meal and breakfast with our host, Alta, the food being simple but very satisfying. Being close to the N7, this is a good place to stop en route north or south."

  • "A true oasis in a hard, arid piece of land"

    15 September 2011

"Ons het nie geweet wat om te verwag maar was regtig aangenaam verras! Ons verwagtings was oortref vir so 'n klein plekkie - Alta en haar man is so warm, gasvry en vriendelik. Ons was goed ingelig oor die omgewing en wat aangaan, twee ware juwele. Ons het heerlik gekuier, gesels, geslaap, geeet en blomme gekyk. Die skoon varsheid van die huis waarin ons gebly het, het ons almal opgeval en ons kon nie genoeg daarvan kry nie. Dit was beslis die beste verblyf op ons toer! We didn't know what to expect but were pleasantly surprised. Our expectations were exceeded. Alta and her husband are so warm, friendly and hospitable. We were well informed about the area. We had a great visit, great conversation, great food, a great sleep and saw beautiful flowers. The freshness and cleanliness of the house was notice by everyone. The best accommodation on our trip!"

We had a wonderful visit and had a good sleep. It felt like visiting family. Hope we can welcome you in our home soon. 'A stranger is just a friend you do not know' is applicable here."
