Tamboti Tented Camp is a small camp situated on the banks of the Timbavati River, on the western boundary of the Kruger National Park, approximately 2 km east of Orpen Rest Camp. Due to the size and location of this camp, Tamboti is one of the most popular camps in the Park.
A great feature is the boma, which makes it ideal for small groups of people to gather around the camp fire and relive the animal sightings of the day. For the birding enthusiasts, Tamboti offers a bird hide in which to spend hours looking for that exclusive raptor that has up to now eluded you. The natural bush feeling is kept inside the camp, which has the result of emphasizing guest privacy.
Please note that the rates are subject to the number of adults and children staying. Rates include 1% Community Levy, but exclude daily conservation fees. These are to be paid directly to camp on arrival.
PLEASE NOTE: from 1 September 2017, all visitors over 18 years old will be required to produce their identity document (ID), passport or alternative valid identification e.g. drivers licence card for scanning upon entering/exiting the Park.
"Loved everything about the camp. Clean and tidy."
"Raiding by baboons was a huge problem. Also found the ablution and also the cooking facilities to be far from our tent, creating practical problems for food preparation."
"We loved our stay at Tamboti. Its a simple but enchanting place with a beautiful scenery and spectacular night sounds. Well be back one day but dont go there if you are into luxury accommodation."
"We had a great time at Tamboti."
"We loved the interaction , especially at night with the wild life. It was very tidy and clean. We had only 1 complaint, the lights at the braai area did not work. Otherwise a great experience!"
"Staying at Tamboti more than exceeded our expectations. It was comfortable, clean, had great facilities for showering, making coffee, having a Braii and we were right in the park - had amazing self drive safari and loved the monkeys coming around."
"Facilities as advertized, nice scenic river bank setting, clean facilities.<div><br /></div><div>Will visit again!</div>"
"We absolutely love Tamboti! This was our second time staying at this amazing camp. The tents are very private as there are a lot of bushes between each. The tents are well kept and the insides very bug-free! We stood a few meters from the hyena walking along the fence and heard the lions and hyenas at night. The communal bathrooms are clean and well kept. We will always come back to this special camp!"
"A dream come true for us, clean, comfortable and immersed in a unique nature, everyone should experience this!!"
"Would not suit all. People need to be informed about getting park permits, costs & tent number before getting to the camp"
"Everything was such an adventure for our two children, aged 10 and 7, even walking to the ablution blocks to wash dishes or go to the loo! We saw animals right outside our tent everyday! It was very peaceful and relaxing. There were other people around but you only spotted them at the ablution blocks- each tent was totally private. The beds were comfortable, the tent spotlessly clean! The only thing we wished for was a tap to give us running water. Thank you very much for a wonderful holiday!"
