Ripple Hill Hotel

On the brim of the magnificent Baviaanskloof Mega Reserve, in the heart of the citrus farming community of Patensie, lies the Ripple Hill Hotel. Built in 1946, the hotel carries an old-school charm and character, with raised ceilings and wooden floors throughout.Relax on the patio and take in the scenery of the tractor traffic humming by, whilst enjoying the best steak in town or a sundowner drink. We offer newly renovated rooms, a great restaurant with extensive a la carte menu, and a cosy pub with big screen TV, air-conditioning, and a fireplace. We also cater for small functions. Please be advised that as our Restaurant and Bar are CLOSED on a Sunday, we cannot offer breakfast or any other meals on a Sunday. We can however refer you to a couple of nearby eateries that cater for breakfast and lunch on Sundays, 8am 5pm. Our braai/BBQ area can be pre-arranged if required.

  • "Potential in Patensie - Ups and downs"

    08 January 2017

"Ripple Hill is beautifully situated at the foot of the famous Baviaanskloof with surrounding lush gardens. If it is serenity you want this is just the place for you! Staff are all respectfull, helpful and friendly. Homely pub where it is easy to meet the locals in a very relaxed atmosphere. The Restaurant boasts superb food. Their steaks beat some of the best in the country! Rooms have nice old wooden floors and very clean.<br/><br/>The few downs are the fact that the Hotel is old and lacking some of its earlier lustre. The up is that there are signs of "Renovations in progress" posted.<br/><br/>Will we go there agan?<br/>Without a doubt. Will not even contemplate alternative accommodation!<br/>"

  • "Nice stay"

    07 January 2014

"The stay was from the Friday until the Monday it was all nice and clean. The breakfast was good on the Saturday morning. We went the afternoon to a wedding when we got back late after ten and wanted to by water they informed us the hotel is closed on a Sunday and no beds will be made and if need any towels me must come and ask. They still ask us the full rate for the day. We only saw afterwards on the web they are closed on a Sunday. But further more nice and quiet place to stay at."

  • "RIPPLE HILL "HOTEL" - NOT RECOMMENDED"

    17 December 2013

"Although neat and clean, definitely a "NO-NO". Room - en suite - spartan amenities: No wardrobe (only paint spattered wooden bench), no basic toiletries, the only one operational plug was in the bathroom, transparent curtains (no privacy), the only mirror in this "suite" was in bathroom (and very small) no reception upon arrival, no bar facilities before 17:00, meager breakfast with limited choice (at an additional R50). Rather use excellent guest houses at same or less rates in Patensie as we did."
