  "The Guest House is clean and well appointed, with everything you will need. There was lots to read, and host Jens, a retired school principal is a real old-style 'gentleman' of a type you rarely get nowadays."

  "A relaxing place if you want to unwind from a long drive. A cold wind was blowing when we arrived,but sitting outside in the sun with sheep bleating,a cockerel crowing,a dog barking in the background , made the trip worthwhile.An electrical blanket to warm up the bed made the night's sleep comfortable."

  "Mooi, en die warm kombersie was toe nodig, nie geweet die Karoo kan so koud word nie. Beautiful, and the warm blamket was needed after all. Did not know that the Karoo was that cold."

  "We stayed over at Groenhuis Guesthouse on the way to the Cape. Our lodging was in a converted stable, very fitting for December. It was clean, the beds were comfortable, water hot, and towels pristine white. My husband enjoyed the mulberries in the garden. As the owner no longer offers meals we went to Jenny Street's home restaurant for a wonderful relaxed meal. A reasonable price and something different."

  "My daughter and I stayed here for one night and agreed that we would have loved to stay longer. Entering the cottage was like stepping back into the past. Charming, clean and comfortable. Phillipolis is the most photogenic little town, worthy of a longer stay."

Our host was kind enough to allow us to come back and stay with him at very short notice and even offered us an extra day without charge.The sign posts helped us find the place easily."

Worth stopping at as an alternative to Colesburg and is not out the way at all!!Visitors must call in advance and book a dinner at "Oom Jaaps se huis" - be wonderfully hosted by Richard!!Lovely accommodation overall, just needs airconditioning as very hot in the middle of summer..."
