  • "An oasis in a West Coast Landscape"

"A hidden gem nestling behind Piketberg mountain. We loved the old farmhouse and magical garden and our host even provided braai food because we had missed the shops on the way in. There is a pool and.Jacuzzi for romantic evenings and an old world cottage to sleep in. Hugely recommended for anyone who wants a stay full of character and charm."

"We had a lovely stay at Kapteinskloof with our 3 young children. They loved exploring the garden and farm and visiting the chickens and horses , we enjoyed visiting some nearby wine farms (Org de Rac and Niewedrift are within 30ins of the farm) and we all loved the hot tub! Melanie, Billy and Koko couldn't have been more friendly and attentive hosts. They had even erected a temporary fence to the pool for our little ones (without us asking). A real gem!"

"What a lovely surprise to find people who treat our heritage with tlc and then share it with us. We should have stayed longer. Relaxing after a long trip from Namibia, at its best."

  • "Just loved this place!"

    08 October 2016

"We stayed in this gorgeous cottage last weekend. Its excellent value for money and was a really comfortable stay. The swimming pool is just divine! The Kloof is absolutely stunning, especially in the early mornings with the most wonderful aromatic orange blossom smell wherever you go. Kirstin and Marc have decorated the cottage beautifully and its a real home from home! I would say Kapteinskloof is one of the Cape's best secrets!"

  • "Warm and beautiful"

    16 August 2016

"We arrived rather late but the cottage was lit up, with a note on the door to welcome us. We made a fire in the wood fire oven which warmed up the cottage, and had a hot relaxing bath after a long day of travelling. The bedroom and decor was beautiful- a real old dutch style cottage. Unfortunately we had to leave early in the morning and didn't have time to explore the farm, but the cottage itself was a welcome, warm and friendly rest. Rusks and filter coffee in the morning were fantastic!"

"A wonderful discovery! A pleasant and beautifully restored Sandveld cottage in a tranquil corner of the world. To be woken by the local cock and enjoy the sound of birdsong all day long was a treat, and the friendly fires in the Dover made all the difference on the wintry evenings."

  • "Marvellous Kapteinskloof Guest House"

    09 June 2014

"I love that I could walk out by the back door and walk between orange and lemon trees. starting up the fire in the coal stove took me back many years as a young boy in a house where there was no electricity.the environment is the perfect place to go for a complete rest - should ask the government to make Monday - Friday the weekend, and Saturday and Sunday optional to work! the owners have a winner here."
