Black Rhino Game Lodge

Located in the west side of the malaria-free Pilanesberg National Park, and only 33 km from Sun City, Black Rhino Game Lodge is the ideal location for a luxurious bushveld breakaway.

The lodge is built in the midst of a Tamboti forest overlooking a waterhole bustling with bird and animal activity. On many occasions, the stillness of the night is broken by the roaring of lions. Once you are awakened with a hot cup of coffee, your host ranger will take you out on an exceptional game drive, taking you through the Black Rhino Reserve and into the unexplored valley of the Pilanesberg until you reach the 200 km network of Pilanesberg Park roads.

The luxury suites are very private and equipped with a minibar, air-conditioner & tea and coffee making facilities. The patio doors open up into the bush, and if you look out quietly, you might spot a herd of impala or a lone elephant. The designer bathrooms feature your own private outside shower which is perfect to cool down on a hot day.

A top-class chef caters for all your exquisite meals in an atmospheric restaurant. Both the bar and the restaurant lead to the viewing deck, ensuring you are always close to nature.

Please be advised that the gate entry fees are not included in the rates.

  • "Friendly staff"

    20 July 2019

"Staff are very friendly which is great. Bed and pillows were dreadfully uncomfortable. Food was average. Game drives were not great. Overall for the price, I expected more."

  • "Fantastic place!"

    22 April 2019

"We stayed here in April 19 for 3 days and 2 nights. The room was amazing. Animals on your door step. Child friendly enough for our 8 and 6 year olds. Staff were very welcoming and helpful. There wasn't a massive selection of food but what was available was delicious. Game drives were great. The vehicles were well maintained and the rangers very knowledgable. We saw 4 of the big 5. I would definitely recommend Black Rhino Game Lodge"

  • "Private reserve next to Pilanesberg"

    15 October 2013

"We had a great time. We traveled with an 19-month old. The Black Rhino Game Lodge is not particularly child-friendly, but they were very accommodating. We took the little one in a game drive, even.We would suggest the Lodge to make it clearer that this is a private reserve next to Pilanesberg park, but that the reserve is smaller and has less animals than Pilanesberg. And that the game drives do not go into Pilanesberg (you would have to stay at the Pilanesberg park to go on game drives there). The accommodation was superb (spacious, clean, modern and fitting), the food was very good and the service outstanding. The game drives were comfortable, all guides were very knowledgeable and friendly. Please note that the pools are small, because of the lack of water in the area."

"Reception very friendly and helpful. Although my guests arrived at about 21:00, everybody waited and let them feel welcome. All the staff are very committed, helpful and friendly. The game drives were superb and we saw a lot of animals."
