"Improvements:maintenance to shower heads is needed.its clean but the showers need to be better kept.you can add sanitizers for the toilet seats because its used by a lot of people.and standardize the bathrooms in that some have bathmats some don't sometimes etc."

  • "Return Visit"

    16 March 2017

"I have stayed at Amakaya several times and always find it clean, comfortable, and good budget accommodation. The weakness is there kitchen which is small for the number of guests, and one of the showers has a panel missing, but no real problem"

  • "Very comfortable"

    15 March 2016

"We had a double en-suite room with our own balcony, which had a view of the river estuary, and breakfast of eggs and toast included for R600, good value. The room was clean and comfortable, and the staff very helpful. There is secure parking, with key-code entry and the hostel is close to the town centre. There is some noise from the nearby road, but not significant, similarly with some younger guests - but it was Friday night. The kitchen is smallish if many people wanted to use it. Generally, though, very good. Robin"

  • "Untidy,false advertising,staff unfriendly"

    24 March 2014

"We booked a room for 8,When we arrived there, they gave us a small room with no wardrobe.when we asked for a bigger room, they told us the rooms were fully booked and its not their problem we booked a dom room(what kind of an answer is that )The bedroom linen is so old that it itches on the body ,the walls need major painting. the attitude we got from the receptionist(Olivia)stinks,There is no full disclosure from the internet(I LOOKED AT THE PICTURES TODAY AGAIN AND I CANT FIND THE ROOM WE WERE BOOKED ON OVER THE WEEKEND, PLEASE UPDATE)I don't recommend anyone to go there unless you have a Tyre punch or desperate for a room to crush on."

  • "Fine"

"Amakaya is clean and comfortable with a reasonable supply of equipment in the kitchen. There was some noise from the road and voices did channel up the stairs, but no great problem. It is close to the town centre and beaches."
