Experience the grandeur of South Africa's unexplored spaces from Prince Albert's oldest homestead, a serene & comfortable base at the foot of the Swartberg Pass.
Well on its way to a double century, Dennehof Karoo Guest House is the oldest surviving building in Prince Albert . Built in 1835 on part of the fertile Kweekvallei farm for old Zacharias de Beer's granddaughter on the occasion of her marriage, this sturdy two-roomed farmhouse (as it was then) conformed to a style popular in this part of the country in those early pioneering days. In its original guise it had a thatch roof and whitewashed walls and the exposed timbers were painted green.
Dennehof consists of several buildings that once constituted the original farmstead. Each room is uniquely designed and decorated to provide you with luxury, whilst experiencing the grandeur of Karoo-living. Each of our rooms has their own character and is infused with great personality.
The Patio Room has a classical Victorian feel to it, with an old wrought iron double bed and en-suite bathroom where an old Victorian tub forms the central feature of the fully equipped bathroom.
The Cottage is one of our most loved rooms. It consists of a bedroom with two twin beds, a small elegant lounge with an enormous fireplace, a quaint little kitchen as well as a large bathroom. Both the room and the lounge walks out onto the main stoep, where one can sit gaze at the mighty Swartberg Mountain. This room offers all the comfort youll find in a home, from a color television, to a microwave and gas stove. The unit can also be utilized as a family room as it leads onto the Dairy
The Dairy, with its high reed ceilings and poplar wood beams, consists of two twin beds and has its own private en-suite bathroom equipped with a shower. The room walks out onto a private patio, that is lovely for sun-bathing during the winter months or simply relaxing in the cool shade provided by a pepper tree.
The Wagon Shed is definitely one of our most special and sought after honeymoon suites. The room has a double bed, en-suite bathroom, small kitchenette and lounge with color television. Despite the romantic dcor, the room has its own secluded outdoor spa bath, where one can sit and star gaze while relaxing in the tub, or view the koppie from ones own private patio.
The very historic outbuilding - The Forge was once a place of hard work, but now consists of a double bed, en-suite bathroom and color television. Loved by our regular guests, this room offers all the simplistic necessities, whilst emphasizing Karoo-relaxation.
The Windmill Rooms. The name describes the rooms, Two separate rooms built around the old farm windmill. The one room The Windmill Room is a spacious room with two twin beds, en-suite bathroom and a patio overlooking the mountain and flowering garden.
The Windmill Suite is our second honeymoon suite. This spacious room has a double bed, en-suite bathroom a small kitchenette. But what makes this room so romantically special, is the fact that it has a spa bath situated intimately inside the room.

"We arrived at Dennehof after a 400km drive from Knysna (de-touring incl. the 7 passes route and the Swartberg Pass which is absolutely stunning and can be done even without a 4W drive) and got a warm welcome. The place is just a few 100m outside the little town of Prince Albert and has a magnificent location. Green, lush surroundings, a natural swimming pool, beautiful gardens and a great breakfast. We stayed in a small (but definitely big enough for a couple) 'hut/house' which was nicely designed and decorated in detail (plus AC, a filled fridge, rusks and tea/coffee, lovely bed) everything you need you've got it here! This beautiful place has all you need & great service for a perfect stay. Wish we could stay longer than only one night. Next time!"
"Outstanding, The whole place is tasteful and neat. The breakfast was excellent."
"Four of us had a great stay at Dennehof Guest House. We spent a great evening in front of the fire in our accommodation with good red wine! The breakfast was top class and eaten on the deck outside on a perfect day. Will definitely return!"

"I loved my stay. The room was spectacular, the hospitality was superb. I will definitely visit again."
"The B&B is about 800m from the centre of PA so handy for the town and the rooms are cosy and decently equipped with fridge, TV etc. We stayed in the forge (a converted detached outbuilding) which was nice and quiet......until the rain started thrashing on the tin roof, but you can't help that in SA ! Breakfast was excellent, outside on the terrace. The recommended restaurant in the local art gallery is also excellent, especially for game (you need to take your own wine since there's no licence but they keep bottles in the B&B)"
"A pleasant and peaceful setting. Open fresh air and no cars up and down a street. All our requirements were catered for and was just the "right thing"."
"This was our 3rd visit in 3years. The standard of the establishment remains first class. We had the Windmill suite yet again and enjoyed the spa bath and queen sized bed. Breakfast was a delight, served on the open deck. Would recommend Dennehof to anyone seeking peace and quiet in luxurious surroundings. Their recommendation for evening meal turned out to be one of the best meals we had in South Africa. "
"We loved our stay at Dennehof, just wished we had planned to stay longer to have more time to explore the area - we will be back. Our family was well accommodated in a series of interlinked rooms."

"An awesome experience. Dennehof oozes with character and style. We had a lovely stay and Ria was friendly and accommodating. A perfect destination after a beautiful crossing of the Swartberg pass. An Oasis!"
"Our room facilities were 5 star, with a spa bath, and a huge queen sized bed with mosquito netting. Only wish our stay could have been longer. Hostess very friendly and helpful. Not sure about the 'tower' breakfast, a little over elaborate for our tastes, but certainly did not spoil our stay"
"Our stay was fantastic. The decor was lovely and absolutely spotlessly clean.Such a charming place with friendly people and such good food.We will absolutely recommend it to all our friends and family."
