Millers House is a 4 Star graded Karoo cottage, situated on a farm in the village. Enjoy the freedom of open space, no neighbours, absolute privacy, breathtaking views of the Swartberg mountains and bird life on the dam, yet be only 2 km away from the centre of town. Millers House is ideal for an overnight, weekend or longer stay. The cottage is a lovely setting for a family, two couples travelling together or even a honeymoon.
Miller's House lies on 180 hectares of private, unspoilt Karoo veld. You can wander up the koppie to admire the view, perhaps even taking a picnic with you, or simply stay on the verandah to indulge in birdwatching, painting, reading or lazing. A brief stroll takes you to the historical Alberts Water Mill.
Millers House is tastefully decorated in cool Karoo shades, and provides accommodation which is both spacious and extremely comfortable. The original clay walls and reed ceilings not only add to the ambience and character of the cottage but keep it cool in summer as well.
Both of the bedrooms open onto the patio and each feature a private lounge area with DStv and air-conditioning. Each room also has a king-size bed or twin beds and a fold-out sleeper couch for young children. Ceiling fans provide a breeze in summer, while heaters and electric blankets ensure snug nights in winter. The luxurious en-suite bathrooms contain corner baths, separate showers and heated towel rails. Hairdryers are supplied in each room. The kitchen is fully equipped and features a microwave, a stove, a fridge and a washing machine. A selection of coffees, teas, homemade rusks, milk and sugar are provided. There is also a Weber braai for guests' use.
For those who choose the bed and breakfast option, there are cereals, yoghurt and fruit juice. Should you prefer a heartier breakfast, there is a choice of five restaurants in town.
In the evening you can watch the changing hues of the sky and at full moon, an almost unbelievably huge, buttery, yellow globe slowly rises above the foothills of the Swartberg.
"Every detail for our comfort is only part of it!<br/>The back porch is perfectly arranged for eating every meal outside, facing the lake and the vast Karoo. The 2 bed/sitting rooms are luxuriously large, also facing the back, for ultimate privacy;<br/>huge bathrooms with every amenity in each.<br/>Elise is a warm and charming host who greets her guests with sincere happiness. <br/>Prince Albert has lots of appeal for strolling and being a coddled tourist, but our reason for being there was to go to Hell, not as you think. The road to Die Hel is a side road off the magnificent, remarkable, hand-built road through the Swartberg Pass - be sure to read about it. We went for the breathtaking scenery and made it to The Hell in an ordinary 2-wheel drive car. There's not much there now to see but we enjoyed our picnic lunch in Hell. If we'd had more time, we could have carried on another 13 km to the restoration of a community that lived in splendid isolation for over a century, but we had to return: each way takes over 2 hours, including photo stops.<br/>Our first visit to Miller's House and the Pass was in 2009. All is as superb in 2016 as it was then.<br/>"
"Well equipped two bed/2 bath cottage, big stoep (veranda) and privacy. Peaceful. <br/>A short walk into the lovely 'dorpie' of Prins Albert. <br/>The washing machine was a real bonus. Thanks<br/><br/>"
"<p>This was our first visit to Miller's House, and it certainly won't be our last! The cottage is beautifully furnished and fully equipped, and is in a lovely setting looking out over the farm dam.It was our last stay on a three-week road-trip, and the cottage was far and away the nicest accommodation on our trip.</p><p>Thank you Elise!</p><p></p>"
"We had a stunning stay at Milner's House! I can highly recommend Miller's House. Fantastic for people with children."
"<p>What a fantastic surprise. It is beautifully decorated and has everything you could possibly wish for. My highlight was watching the sun rise over the mountain and reflect on the pond, and the second best surprise was the amount of start in the sky, MANY more than what we saw in Sutherland just a few days earlier. what a treat! <br></br><br></br></p><p>We were somehow expecting a B&B, so were surprised that it was a self catering cottage but there are so many places close by that it was not a problem at all. </p>"
"Well equipped cottage with lovely views to the mountains. Buck, tortoise, mongoose and lots of birds to add to the enjoyment. Highly recommended."
"We had a wonderful stay at Miller's House!"

"We found 4 stars inside and the 5th one....was outside. In the town, in the streets, on the Miller's stoep."

"We had a wonderful stay at Miller's House, so much comfort and such peace. Prince Albert is a most remarkable town so very clean and orderly, with friendly, helpful residents - be proud to be part of this "little gem". Thank you all."
"We truly enjoyed our stay at Miller's House. It was our first visit to the beautiful Prince Albert; a stopover I will suggest to all friends and family. Miller's House has a lovely setting overlooking the farm, and being greeted by a springbuck in the morning added to kid’s excitement. Thank you, we will definitely stopover at Miller's House again if we travel through Prince Albert."
