Prince Albert Garden Guest House

This tranquil garden courtyard oasis has been built around an historic farmhouse. We are situated just off the main road, and offer a selection of rooms. Facilities include a pool, and a sun/moon deck. A hearty South African breakfast is served in the farmhouse.

All rooms offer air-conditioning and fans for summer. For winter we have electric heaters and cozy pot bellied wood burners. Our linen is all white percale cotton, with feather duvets for winter.

The Prince Albert Garden Guest House is an ideal home base, a short stroll from the town centre, from which you can explore the Swartberg, the Karoo and the famed Route 62.

We are happy to recommend local eateries to you.

"It was wonderful to arrive at this gem after driving through the Swartberg Pass in our cute little blue Fiat (which just about made it over that dirt-road pass). Mike & Tim greeted us upon our arrival and right away, we knew we picked a great place to spend the night! It was fun walking through the iron gate, as I could see the gorgeous garden beyond it (I am a gardener). Huge big old pepper tree was the focal point, some Bonsai plants sunning themselves under the huge umbrella of the tree. We walked through the yard 1st before bringing our bags into the room, which was immaculate. Tastefully decorated, lots of room, comfy beds, great shower. Very quiet. The highlight of that stay in Prince Albert was seeing the Milky Way!! All I can say is, WOW, if you have never experienced it. Lit up the whole sky. I stayed out there for awhile just staring, until the bugs found me--a nice cold cider was waiting for me in the fridge.I have to say, they could have put out some more food for breakfast - eggs (made to order), bacon (mmm), fruit, fried tomato, yogurt, coffee & tea, muesli, juice, bread, was just not enough for a growing boy! I hope you realize that I am winding you all up about the breakfast!! Their living quarters are something to long for - lots of antiques, beautiful furniture, collections of plates & knic-nacs all over, wonderful pictures on the wall. It's always fun to have breakfast with other travelers. That sunny morning, we ate with a Danish couple who were living/working in Cape Town for a couple years. Nice to be able to exchange experiences, comments, places to visit with others who are there for the same reason that you are.The next morning, as we were packing, Mike was kind enough to walk us through the REST of the property, which had some beautiful flowers & plants in it. We didn't want to leave, but some more adventures were awaiting us.Thank you, thank you, thank you Tim & Mike - we would def recommend your lovely B&B to anyone who would like to spend some time in the Karoo!! When we visit again, I will bring my pruners with me, as Mike could always use some help in the garden. Once I go through my 1175 pics, I will attempt to post a few on here (not that tech-savvy here), so bear with me.If you are planning a trip there, and would like me to be your guide, I am available at a very reasonable price....lol.GO FOR IT, GO VISIT SOUTH AFRICA & SPEND SOME TIME IN THE KAROO - until we meet again..."

"I can higly recommend this guest house. The host was friendly, the rooms were pristine and the breakfast was great. The pool was also just what the doctor ordered to cool down in the heat of the summer! Can't wait to go again!"

"I wish we could have stayed longer. We had a marvellous stay and the hospitality was exceptional. It was a great breakfast sitting around the table exchanging stories. The garden is a wonderful oasis in the middle of the Karoo. Prince Albert has lots of great restaurants for lunches and dinners. Definitely the place to stay."
