The Hamlet Country Lodge

The Hamlet Country Lodge is situated in Prince Alfred's Hamlet near Ceres. In a small town such as Prince Alfred Hamlet, there is surprisingly lots to do. Just across the road from The Hamlet Country Lodge we have horseback riding through the apple- and pear orchards, while for the younger generation there is also paintball in town and the zip slide in Ceres.

The lodge offers accommodation in six en-suite rooms; three of which are queen rooms and the other three are twin rooms. All of the rooms have wall-heaters to take the chill off the ice-cold winters. Our rates include breakfast and in all of our six rooms we offer DStv Hotel Package. There is also a coffee station in each room for that late night cup.

In addition, we have a retro bar on site that will take you back to the seventies, but with a modern, classy twist. We serve a sophisticated pub lunch that will have you coming back for more, and we also specialize in home-baked pizzas and mini gourmet burgers, with only the freshest ingredients used in our combinations.

"We had 2 single beds and since its winter only one of the beds had an electric blanket. The panel heater was out of order, the toilet had to be fixed and the lovely breakfast was spoilt with the staff forgetting to give us knives and forks. The atmosphere was dead quiet with now music or anything. Thanks anyway."

"Clean and comfortable, with all the basics (fresh towels, toiletries, hairdryer, electric blanket, tea & coffee etc). Nice pub and good restaurant meals. Service was very good. We have stayed here before and find it is good value for money for a country hotel. However, the bedroomTV lost signal, the bedroom door is warped making (un)locking difficult, and the old metal windows need fixing (but there are burglar bars for security)."

"Overall a convenient establishment for attending a wedding in the area. The bathroom could have been cleaner, the total lack of shower facilities is a serious drawback (not even a hand shower in the bath). Overall it provides value for money"

"Disappointing experience"

"Hamlet Country Lodge was a real disappointment. It appears to have been allowed to run down over the years. Blistering damp patches on my bedroom walls; bedside lamps that didn't work, until I insisted. Then they were easily fixed, only to find one of the light bulbs had to be replaced. To cap it all, the nozzle of the hand-held shower fell off, leaving me with just a gush of water to shower with. The end had been corroded through, and was already loose when I switched the water on. Surely these are the kind of things that should have been checked and repaired before the customer arrived? The breakfast was OK, but the whole place seemed tired and old. Not going to return here!"

"The lodge facilities and rooms are comfortable and spacious enough. Our breakfast was delicious and well prepared and presented. Staff were also extremely friendly and helpful. Our room was not serviced on the first morning but not sure if that's the service policy to attend to rooms daily or only once every few days. Despite that I still rate the stay as nice and enjoyable."
