The Barnacle is a lovely seaside cottage located in the little village of Pringle Bay. Guests can see whales from the deck during July, August and early September and a canoe is available for use on the river or lagoon. We can provide breakfast baskets by prior arrangement.
The open-plan cottage is fully equipped for self-catering and has a separate entrance from the main house. The double bed is screened for privacy and a separate sleeping alcove with twin beds shares the en-suite bathroom. The alcove can also be curtained for guests privacy. The kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering and guests can enjoy their meals at the dining table. The sitting room has a cosy fireplace and a TV, as well as Wi-Fi Internet access. Guests can relax in the private garden and make use of the barbecue facilities. The private viewing deck is an ideal place for sundowners or to just enjoy the view. Guests can access the beach by a grassy path through the reeds or a path that leads over the dune onto the main beach.
Pringle Bay offers safe swimming, snorkelling and birdwatching; local birds include the sunbird, sugar bird and the African black oystercatcher. Pringle Bay falls within a protected area and guests need a permit to fish in the area. Guests can visit the penguin colony at Stoney Point.
"Had an awesome stay. Comfortable cottage with lovely old furniture. Beautiful views close to beach and friendly hostess! (Shower area can do with some TLC though) Overall, good value for money!<br />"
"A great little place right off the beach. A quiet and relaxing getaway. Old-ish decor but beautiful, well put together and maintained."
"Lovely, quaint, pity about the tiny TV. Great host. neat and tidy, many thanks."
"Spent the weekend there with my wife and 3 kids. We had a great time. The kids loved the viewing deck, easy access to the beach and private garden. It was ridiculously windy, but we still had fun on the beach and enjoyed a lovely family braai."
"I had a wonderful stay at the Barnacle. Being a stone's throw from the beach was perfect, and the accommodation was warm and comfortable. Thanks Jenny."
