Nestled at the foot of a mountain, in the heart of the nature reserve and on the banks of the Umtamvuna River, you will discover a lodge of leisure. With its sub-tropical gardens, soothing sounds of water falling from the edge of the cliffs and the majestic call of the fish eagle, you find yourself lost in an unhurried tranquility that soon dispels the tensions and stress of every day life.
The pool terrace and cocktail bar, on stilts alongside the river, compliment the rustic ambience of the lodge. The lodge offers accommodation in eight comfortable air-conditioned and heated en-suite double, twin or single rooms. Each room has a flat-screen LCD TV, selected DStv and a private balcony which provides the opportunity to relax at sundown while taking in the views of the river and surrounding mountains.
The gardens and private river beach make for a perfect playground and place for children to explore as well as for Bubba, our Vietnamese pot-bellied pig. He roams the property freely and loves a game of "footie" with the kids. There are many activities that both the lodge and surrounding attractions have to offer.
Umtamvuna River Lodge is also South Africas premier wakeboarding venue and home to some of the best pro wakeboarders South Africa and Europe has to offer.
Beginners and professionals can wakeboard in warm tropical conditions year-round on the flat water behind a Mastercraft X-star with personal instruction by Kevin Dry and other top international pro wakeboarders. This is where the South African section of Oakleys "Push Process" was filmed. If you are a boardrider who loves surfing uncrowded surf spots in boardshorts and wakeboarding behind a big wake on protected, flat, warm water, you have just found heaven.
Umtamvuna will leave you with beautiful memories that linger long after everyone has departed.
