"Very friendly host, and it was very special to be visited by some of the local wildlife, including a beautiful Loerie which hung around and gave the best display."
"We absolutely enjoyed the stay at Fern Gully. Lovely location in the forrest."
"The peace and quiet. Cabin was stunning!!!"
"Loved the peace and quiet and that the cabins were privately spaced. Could definitely have pyrex bowl/s for microwave to cook things in. Could also have serving bowls for salads and some plastic containers to store left over food in. I would not recommend it as pet friendly as the balcony is not closed in and is a fairly high fall into the bushes which had thorns on them, plus the residential dogs roam freely and often came to our cabin. For this reason I am glad we decided at the last minute not to bring our Boston Terrier.Other than that we had a great stay and it was a central location to all other towns and did spend most of our time visiting different locations"
"It was lovely staying in an area where the bush is around you. It felt as if you are all by yourself. Very quiet."
"Disappointed that cottage is located in a gum plantation with not a single fern or any indigenous forest. Owner would do well to start rehabilitation programme on his farm to restore nature as gum trees are not nature. Also dogs that belong to owners of restaurant attack every time you go past so walking or cycling on the property is very risky. Big dogs should be fenced away from patrons...the dogs jumped up on our car and scratched it badly. We were not impressed."
"These cabins were clean, quiet and beautifully furnished. The setting and the view were more beautiful than we could have possibly asked for. I would live there forever if I could. Fantastic and accommodating hosts!"
"wifi wasnt too great. some dishes weren't totally clean. the rest was good."
"We stayed in Coucal Cabin - a real tree house! Absolutely amazing setting, surrounded by birdsong and nature sounds. The cabin has everything you need, is clean and well-furnished, and Robert and Michelle are excellent hosts. But really, the magic of this place is being suspended in the treetops, disappearing into the forest canopy, and simply relishing the peace and (un)quiet!"
"What a fantastic place to stay. <br/><br/>Michelle was so relaxed and inviting , this is definitely a place that we will want to come and stay again.<br/><br/>Lying in bed listening to all the birds and the trees rustling is just the weekend we wanted."
"Ons het baie lekker gebly en gekuier by Fern Gully. Die rustige atmosfeer met die Knysna Loeries wat kom kuier is baie spesiaal. Sal verseker weer terug gaan."
"What a pleasant surprise. <br/>Such tranquility with all your needs taken care of.<br/>The hosts are very accommodating and the birds abundant.<br/>A true gem."
"My husband and I stayed in Owl Cabin at Fern Gully.<br />On arrival at Fern Gully we were giving a heart warming welcome by Michelle and the dogs. We were shown where our cabin was and after a short walk through the forest came to our very cosy cabin. The cabin was clean and had all the amenities that we needed. There was a comfortable indoor and outdoor shower with hot water. We enjoyed sitting on the deck and listening to the birds. The highlight was the visits of Louis the Lorrie. He is so tame and will practically eat from your hand. We also heard an owl on our final night there. <br /><br />The owners of Fern Gully are really friendly but do not interfere while you are there. We had complete privacy. There are 4 other cabins not far from each other but you do not see the other cabins. There are some that cater for families. The Owl cabin is for couples. I would definitely recommend Fern Gully to my friends and even strangers and will return there in the future.<br />"
"Our stay was very peaceful until the second last day of our stay, when some very noisy people arrived, and were staying at a cabin nearby. Of course that is not the fault of Fern Gulley, but perhaps they should leave a notice for guests to respect other guests and keep the noise levels down. The forest is beautiful and very peaceful, and we had an adorable friendly knysna lourie come visit every afternoon. My biggest complaint would be the shower curtain, which, when it is not sticking to every part of your body, billows out and lets the whole bathroom get wet, and the bathroom door handle kept coming off. Other than that though, the cabin was very sweet and well maintained."
"The quietness of the area is what we were aiming for. We were respected and even the keys were left at our vehicle not to bother us. Had a good two day rest from our busy schedule."
