Kinmel guest farm, a place to break away, reflect and rejuvenate! Come visit and enjoy the magnificence of the Southern Drakensberg Mountains.

Just past the picturesque town of Rhodes, recently declared a conservation area, you will find the outstretched fields and mountain slopes of the farm Kinmel. We offer a complete break away from it all, as Kinmel is only reachable by gravel road.

The old barn were transformed and divided into 2 comfortable, private, fully equipped, fresh and easy to live in chalets. Each offering: full kitchen, 3 separate bedrooms, 2 bathrooms (bath and shower), perfectly furnished and spacious enough for groups of up to 8 per chalet, and at the same time, still cosy enough for a break away weekend for 2.

Combine both chalets for a relaxing getaway and get-together for the whole family.

Kinmel is perfectly situated at the heart of some of South Africas most spectacular mountain passes. Very near to the foot of Naudes Nek pass and a mere 20km from the Tiffindell ski resort and mount of Ben McDhui (the highest peak in the Cape). Ten of the countrys top and most spectacular high altitude mountain passes are within easy reach from the farm.

Apart from our child friendly chalets, complete with fireplace, the perfect stoep for a braai and out-stretched lawn, Kinmel is also a fully functional and active farm. Many a sheep bleating away adds to the farms peaceful and refreshing atmosphere. Only topped by trout meandering in the farms crystal clear personal stretch of the Bell River, a mere 500m from the chalet, making Kinmel a fly fishing hotspot.

Daytime hiking offers a possible glimpse of the endangered Bearded Vulture as well as various other wild life and spectacular flora. Night time offers unparalleled star gazing.

Come Winter, Kinmels outstretched lawn can transform overnight into a white and snowy wonderland!

Kick your day of with an early morning hike, take a drive up some of our countries most spectacular mountain passes, spoil your fly-fishing rod with a scintillating sunset stroll down riverand as the quiet darkens settles.sit, breathe and put your feet up next to the crackling flames of a cosy fireplace.

"Photos of this venue on safari would be good. We did anticipate a separate bedroom and the bunk beds had no ladder or side on the top bunk, resulting in one of the children having to sleep in the bed with us. Suitable for 2 not 4 people."

"Ons het heerlik gebly by Kinmel. Bergstroom was skoon en die kaggel was 'n bonus. Willem en Wilna is baie gasvry en vriendelik. Die stilte, rus en vrede was fantasties. Sal voorstel dat die skoonmaker dalk elke dag uitvee en na die badkamers omsien. Sy het elke dag die bietjie skottelgoed gewas. Die ronde rottang stoele op die stoep was 'n groot bederf. Ons het lekker gekuier en Kinmel sal ons beslis weer sien!"

"<p>Our stay at Kinmel guest farm was absolutely first-class. Directions to the farm were precise, the hosts were warm and welcoming and the 'house' that was made available to us was very well equipped, everything we needed was there. Photos of the farm and area in different seasons against the wallsadded pleasure to our stay, as did the great stoep, the beautiful view, the warm bedding (can get cold up there in Rhodes) and the cherry on top were the 16 adorable Labrador puppies we were allowed to play with. All in all a great experience and fully recommended to anyone making the trip to this outpost.</p><p></p>"

"We enjoyed our stay at Kinmel. The beautiful and quiet surroundings are perfect if you want to relax. We especially enjoyed the daily firewood provided for free as this warmed up the whole cottage at night. The cottage was very clean with everything (basic) we needed. We also enjoyed the open surroundings for the children to play. We were disappointed for the lack of snow, maybe next time?"

"Kinmel Guest Farm did not boast with brand name crockery or appliances, but we had absolutely everything we needed from teaspoons to towels. A pleasant spacious chalet, friendly staff and the star feature, the fireplace in the lounge with loads of wood. What a pleasure. We could not have been received with more warmth and hospitality even though we were so late arriving the night of the 9th. Highly recommended."
