Koelfontein Guest House offers self-catering accommodation in an old restored farmhouse located 20 km outside of Rietpoort. This small Karoo farmhouse offers accommodation ideal for a family.
The farmhouse offers three bedrooms with bedding provided. The house has no electricity, but we provide oil lamps, a gas stove and a gas geyser. The large kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering and guests can enjoy meals at the central dining table. The lounge area has comfortable seating and beautiful views of the surrounding grasslands. We can provide meals on request. The house has an indoor and outdoor braai.
The area offers beautiful surroundings and is renowned for its spring flower display, which can be among the best in the region.
"We throughly enjoyed our stay, we felt we could have stayed longer than our 3 nights as there is so much to explore and see. We would recommend Koelfontein to people who love nature, the outdoors and basic, rustic living. We loved the isolation and remoteness and the night sky is the best we have seen, the plant and animal life plus the geology was fascinating. The cottage had everything we required, we did not miss internet, tv or electricity."
"Uiters vriendelike gasvrou! Alles wat ons nodig gehad het. Die stilte is oorverdowend en die sterrehemel onbeskryflik!!<br/>'n MOET ervaring.<br/>Baie dankie Adele!<br/>Etienne & Hedwig"
"The beautiful, isolated locality is so soothing for the soul and the stargazing is absolutely magnificent!!!<div>I had the most restful sleep ever here...</div><div>The meals were delicious and satisfying, you can taste all the love and care that went into them.</div><div><br /></div><div>Ons het regtig sooo lekker gebly, dankie Adele en Albie... jul gasvryheid is van die boonste rak :)</div>"
"Absolutely fantastic. Isolated. So very near to God's creation - flowers, fields, even small buck and others - a small "steenbokkie" visited us. We will definitely stay longer. I think it depends of the type of person you are, if you will enjoy the stay or not. Everything needed was well provided for. The owners made us feel so heartily welcome. Their heart is in this. What a beautiful, blessed place! We did not miss electricity at all."
"Adele was a wonderful hostess, and made a great effort to meet our family a few kilometres away, when they arrived at the farm after dark. The cottage was cosy with its oil lamps, and had solar lighting only in the bedrooms."
"We enjoyed the stay. We all enjoyed the getaway from the normal modern things and had fun without electricity. The flowers around that area was absolutely awesome! Very friendly hosts."
"We stayed there in the flower season, yet was surprised to see no evidence of rip-off pricing - much appreciated! Then this guesthouse also has all you need for a relaxed weekend away from everything. Great location from where to go visit the Namaqua coastline, good roads, shop at Kotzesrus, and also within an hour or so from Groenriviermond. Thanks to Adele and Albie - real professional service and customary Namaqualand hospitality!"
