All the cottages are fully equipped with quality linen and towels, and elegantly furnished each with its own flavour and style, with large verandahs and indoor fireplaces, as well as outdoor barbecue facilities. Buitenstekloof Mountain Cottages also offers various activities on and around the farm.
"Lovely clean and well appointed Baboon"s gift cottage, gas 2 burner stove and Hot water, lights and fridge run on solar and inverter. Indoor fireplace with weber braai outside. All kitchen utensils are of good quality, even the pots and pans were decent....Well done Johan & Marie!"
"What a lovely, relaxing stay we had. The cottage we stayed at, Rooipensie, has a lovely fully enclosed stoep where our toddler played to his heart's content. The kitchen was nicely equipped with pots, crockery, cutlery and coffee and tea. The only issues we had were that the gas geyser would every now and then turn off and ice cold water would come out of the shower, and the bedroom light did not work. The cottage is also quite dusty and although this did not bother us, it does bear mentioning."
"The farm is advertised as rustic and secluded and it delivers so much more. We chose the Witkruis Cottage and we got more than we expected. The kitchen had all the basics we needed. We had our own fridge in the room which wasnt advertised and it was simple enough to follow the instructions for the solar power. The views of the mountain were amazing. We had a three year old daughter with so we decided to check out the mountain pool and dam for a little swim. It was quiet disappointing to drive back without swimming because the mountain pool looks like nothing on the pics. It actually looks dangerous and the water doesnt look natural. The dam isnt maintained and it would look fantastic if it was.Buitenskloof is really a nice secluded place and the fact that it doesnt have network is a bonus but maintenance of the dam and mountain pool is needed."
"The finishing of the cottages needs some work. The floor could do with some covering. The shower water turns cold and takes forever to heat up and the mountain pool is not well maintained. Also need urgent fumigation. The kitchen also had a permanent gas smell. The spiders are invading the space and the flies and bugs were all over the place."
"Loved the nature the sounds of the wind and animals! Next time we will stay longer!"
"Ek is baie teleurgestel in my ervaring by Buitenstekloof Cottages. Eestens is dit nie nastenby dieselfde wat geadverteer word nie. Geen nabye winkel asook geen aktiwiteite om te doen. Ek wil nie eens praat van die bobejane wat ons kuier ondraaglik gemaak het nie , en dit sonder dat enigeen dit vir ons voor was. Die feit dat daar geen cellphone opvangs is maak dit soveel erger asook geen sekuriteit indien iets gebeur. Nooit weer sal ek daar tuis gaan - nie my geld werd"
"Relaxing, rustic and pleasent"
"Had an amazing time with my wife. The setting is beautiful and tranquil. Really a good way to get away from the city hustle and bustle. Best way to recharge your batteries."
"The anticipation we felt was dashed when we arrived to what was a very dingy ummaintained cottage. The setting amidst trees and mountains is beautiful but there is a conspicuous lack of care. We had half a toilet roll to share between three, no soap, a teaspoon of hand wash and in the kitchen hardly any wash up liquid, no condiments or enough glasses. We were unable to make contact; due to its isolation there is no cell coverage, all the more reason to ensure guests are serviced properly. The beds were comfortable and warm but the pillows had no slips! It also has a specifically Christian ethos and not a broader spiritual one which should be noted."
"Baboon's rest is a pleasant cottage, nestled among the trees. The hike to the waterfall is really special, with an incredible variety of vegetation. We also enjoyed the wine tasting that is included in the normal tariff."
"We had a lovely stay! Didn't even miss not having electricity or cell reception (and i'm a yuppy!) After the weekend I'm contemplating installing a fireplace in my house.Only little thing is that the kitchen counters are hard to clean as it is a bit extra rustic. I'd suggest painting it with a super gloss? (cheaper than tiling, but neater?)Thanks again for a wonderful chill weekend."
