Rorkes Drift Lodge is situated against the Sinqindi Mountains overlooking the battlefields of Rorkes Drift and Isandlwana made famous during 1879 when the British Empire was colonising Africa and the world. Set on 305 hectares the lodge offers guests an intimate and private experience of the African bush.
The Lodge has four self-contained units that can be rented on either a self-catering basis. We also run a kitchen that is open from 7am to 7pm and guests not wanting to cook for themselves can order lunches and dinners from the kitchens.
When travelling to Rorkes Drift Lodge guests should remember that they should try to travel during the day as there are no street lights in the area. Rorkes Drift Lodge is well signposted from 30kms away but the road is not tarred and the last 5kms is a farm track. It is recommended that guests hiring vehicles ask for something like a Nissan X-Trail that has high clearance.
Please also note that our check in times are strictly between 3pm and 7pm. (Gates close at 7pm.)
"The accommodation is priced fairly, there is nothing that I can suggest or recommend to improve the stay at Rorke's Drift Lodge."
"Great place to be. Stunning views, food excellent, friendly and helpful staff. Peaceful."
"Beautiful location and grounds. Top class food beautifully presented. Cottage that we stayed in was well appointed. A must for horse lovers!"
"My wife and I stayed for 3 weeks in south Africa travelling up to KwaZula - Natal and back along the Garden route to Capetown via Port Elizebeth. We stayed in many very pleasent B&B's, but I have to say that Rorkes Drift Lodge was one of the best experiences. Although perhaps not the most luxurious accommodation in the world, the views and feeling of remoteness were something that we will remember for a very long time. Paul and Christine made us very welcome in their home and joined us and the other guests for dinner each evening. Paul's knowledge of the battle fields is very extensive and we left much the wiser. A great value venue and well worth a visit."
"We had a wonderful few days at Rorke's Drift Lodge. Lodge is simply furnished, has a wonderful view of Isandlwana and Zululand valleys. Food was good and different. We enjoyed Paul's guiding and his humour. Christine and Paul run a tight ship."
"Our stay at Rorke's Drift was absolutely fantastic!I would recommend it to anyone and would definitely go there again!Paul and Christine are very hospitable and run an excellent lodge with a home feeling!Definitely value for money!Only bad side is the road leading to the lodge (although we were warned about it)"
