"THIS STAYOVER WAS THE HIGHLIGHT OF OUR TRIP FROM JOHANNESBURG. JAN AND KARIEN WENT THE EXTRA MILE IN MAKING SURE WE WERE MOST WELCOME AND COMFORTABLE--I WOULD CERTAINLY RECOMEND HOUSE 1929 TO ANYONE-MY WIFE AND I WERE SORRY WE COULDNT HAVE STAYED LONGER TO ENJOY MORE OF JAN AND KARIEN'S COMPANY"

  • "Lovely Stopover on the N6"

    03 May 2016

"We stayed at House 1929 en route between Morgan Bay and Johannesburg. It is a very convenient stop over point being about 5 hours from Johannesburg and 4.5 hours from Morgan Bay. Carien and Jan were friendly and welcoming. The house is beautiful and the original decor well preserved. It was a chilly night but the house was warm and the rooms all had heaters and duvets and blankets on the beds, so we were very comfortable. They even supply hot water bottles which my children loved! They do a delicious "take away" breakfast for people who want to get on the road early and we found this very useful. We would definitely be staying there on our way down to Morgan Bay again."

"We received a warm welcome and were most comfortable during our overnight stay in the self-contained cottage. Would recommend checking what cooking facilities are available should you be doing 'proper' self-catering. <br />"

  • "Perfect"

    05 January 2015

"We had a truly wonderful stay with the host and hostess, Jan and Carien. It was fascinating learning the history of Rouxville as they passionately shared their stories and recounts of both their well maintained and beautiful National Heritage home and the town itself. Accommodation was of excellent standard, as was the breakfast served. We can sincerely recommend as stopover at 1929 B@B"

  • "Nice stop-over"

    14 October 2014

"For our stop-over from the Garden Route to the Drakensberg, Rouxville was a good place to stop halfway. Although the restaurants were all closed, so we had to go back to Aliwal North for dinner. We got a brand new room, which was fine. Because it was our honeymoon, the friendly hosts put a bottle of champagne in the fridge, very friendly! The breakfast was nice, but quite expensive, compared to other B&B where we stayed."
