  • "Average"

    30 March 2015

"The Woodsman B&B is an average place. It is okay for a brief stopover. We were in Sabie for a marathon so spent one night at the Woodsman. The bathtubs are old and no privacy, from the room and I would've much preferred a shower instead. The power went off all night and we woke up in the wee hours of the morning to prepare for our race and had to shower and dress up in darkness. Heard from someone outside that this is a regular occurence in that the main switch probably went down and will only be restored once the owners open up at 6.30. I thought this wasn't fair. Anyway one great thing that happened is that when we returned after the race which was way after check out time we requested to be given a room to at least shower since we didn't find showers at the finishing point of the race where we could've showered before travelling back to Swaziland. Our host organized us two rooms and we showered and left."

  • "Phenomenal service!"

    24 March 2014

"Our group of 15 bikers who had just been through fog and rain on the Long Tom Pass were treated like royalty from arrival to departure. Many members reckoned that they would certainly return! Thanks to the team, you guys ROCK!"

  • "Our stay at Woodmans B & B"

    07 January 2013

"I will never go back there again. They do not clean my room for 2 days. The noise of the cars too.<br></br> <b>Establishment's response</b><br></br> <i>We regret to find Mr Chauke was unhappy with our service over the Christmas period.<br></br> We strongly deny that no cleaning was undertaken in the family’s Room for 2 days; great care is taken when cleaning a stay-over guest’s room, that their personal belongings are not disrupted, but the room is cleaned thoroughly, beds made, and amenities replaced.<br></br> As for the traffic, Sabie is a small town, which sees more than usual traffic flow during peak season.</i>"

  • "Dreadful food!"

    25 April 2012

"The Woodsman is fine as a b&b if you're a biker and if you don't mind lots of ambient noise when you're trying to sleep at 6:00am on a Sunday. However the restaurant - promoted as the best in the area and the reason we stayed there - is dreadful! The food is at best mediocre. In fact their so-called Greek specialities were not special at all. The frozen greek meals from Woolies are far superior. And as we found, the restaurant across the road (The Figtree) (which the owners of the The Woodsman explicitly told us not to go to because it wasn't good), was infinitely superior to the Woodsman's offerings and significantly cheaper. In short I WOULD NOT recommend the Woodsman to anyone travelling in the area on holiday, except if they wanted to hang out with a very friendly and nice group of bikers!"

  • "Excellent"

    21 November 2006

"The Woodsman was excellent. The rooms were perhaps a bit basic for some tastes, but very comfortable, and the location is close to anything that you might need in Sabie. The bar and restaurant are very good. The atmosphere in the bar is lively, and Chris and Oscar are excellent hosts. The restaurant serves very good food, with a Greek influence – a particular favourite for us – and the breakfast is a wonderful way to start a day of sight-seeing.All in all, a real find.We fully intend to return."
