Akhaya lentaba Mountain home was designed by well-known architect Heidi Zollner and is a beautiful home ideally suited to its surroundings. From its commanding position, sweeping curved windows and glass sliding doors celebrate the spectacular scenery. The house enjoys panoramic, uninterrupted views of the pristine sandy bay and the vastness of the Atlantic Ocean. To the South, views of the Rocky Mountains are equally impressive and a garden door opens onto the beautiful Baskloof Nature Reserve at the back. At night, huge star spangled skies greet you, as there are no street lights in Scarborough.
Organic design and expansive, flowing spaces give this modern house an airy and light character. Architectural detail, stained wooden floors, Tasmanian oak parquet, camphor and cedar furniture and touches of African decor enhance the natural character of this unique home.
Spacious open-plan dining and living areas lead onto broad sea-facing verandas, from which one can enjoy the stunning sunsets whilst sipping a chilled drink. All in all, a perfect setting for a relaxing indoor/outdoor lifestyle. The large upstairs kitchen has modern appliances, and gives full views up onto the mountainside.
This impressive house, with its wonderful location and free-flowing space, can accommodate comfortably seven people in three queen-size bedrooms and one double bedroom, two bathrooms plus two hot outdoor showers on each level. Additional futons in the lounge can provide sleeping accommodation for further two to three people. The house can be rented as a whole or as two separate units. It has two separate entrances, each level therefore offering a complete fully equipped private unit, each with two bedrooms and a bathroom. Luxurious percale bed linen and down duvets add to your comfort. An open log fireplace on the upper floor is cosy on those chilly evenings where a good Merlot will not go amiss.
To the front, a terraced fynbos indigenous garden leads down to a car-port and off-street parking for further three cars. Scarborough is the 'Monterey' of the Cape Peninsula, a highly desirable conservation village in a spectacular setting. The safest suburb of Cape Town, most houses are unfenced and there is a very friendly atmosphere. Surrounded by extensive nature reserves, with a beautiful quiet beach, this area attracts a friendly community of local and international nature lovers and discerning holiday-makers. It is well located for Simons Town, Kalk Bay, Cape Point and other Peninsula attractions, including baboon, penguin and whale watching. The village is quiet, yet the restaurants, cafes and shops are just a few minutes drive into Kommetjie and neighbouring villages. It is less than an hour into Cape Town city centre or the wine-lands, via beautiful roads. It boasts its own vineyard, just around the corner as you head out for a scenic drive to the Cape Point. Watch out for whales.
There are numerous good restaurants and golf courses on the Peninsula, and a large modern shopping mall is only 15 minutes away.
