  "The place is a gem. Nothing more to be said!One warning, however...come with a 4x4 or a car with enough clearance from the ground. Otherwise I highly recommend you ask Hesm the alternate route to Kruisbessie. The speed bumbs are HUGE and you'll most likely scratch your car."

We had a very relaxing weekend away from the stress of the city. Hesme is always on hand to answer any questions."

  "We were a group of 11 friends visiting Schoemanshof over the weekend. Kruisbessie is a beautiful wooden house with ample sleeping space for everyone. The kitchen is very well equipped. The only thing that Kruisbessie didn't have was a coffee plunger (but we always take one with.... just in case).Stunning views of the Vaal and surrounding hills from the deck. We also saw and heard many birds during our weekend away.I would highly recommend a visit to Schoemanshof."

  "We wanted a place where our whole family of 10 could go and where we had our own space away from it all. Exactly what we got. The house is a beautiful rustic haven. Loved the kitchen area. Everything we needed was there from the kitchen, bathrooms, bedrooms to the tv. You can fish too. The staff on site were great too, making sure we had everything we needed. We wanted to getaway from it all and this was an amazing & idyllic spot right on the river. You could live on the stoep. Plenty of chairs are provided as well as benches & tables. The only plus to this place would be a small swimming pool & a hammock or lounger to soak up the view & the tranquility. We really loved the place and enjoyed our stay."

  "We were looking for a venue to accommodate a party of 20, and Schoemanshof suited our needs perfectly. The houses were well appointed, very clean, and it was clear that a lot of thought went into the design and furnishings. The setting is spectacular, and Schoemanshof comes highly recommended if you need a break away from it all. Thanks to all at Schoemanshof!"

  "We had a super relaxing weekend with friends at Kruisbessie at Schoemanshof. It has a great atmosphere due to the thatched roof and the huge deck with braai. The house is well equipped and the bathrooms are beautiful (bring a bottle of bath foam and tea lights). For kids it is an excellent mud fight and tree climbing site and the property has some nice hiking trails. And they will love Woeffie! Bring your hammock!"

  "Kruisbessie was the perfect place for the boys night out. We were 14 guys celebrating a bachelors. There is paradise and then you have Kruisbessie. It was unfortunate that we did not get to meet with the hosts as we had arrived a bit late. But i must say everything at Kruisbessie was setup for our arrival. I would recommend this place to accommodate a large family. The deck was the best as we had spent the entire night outside, taking in the great view of the Vaal and the surrounding mountains. The peace and quite place made our stay at Kruisbessie the most memorable.Thank you to Hesme and family and i hope to visit with my family just to relax etc.Regards and kind wishesKapil"

The large stoep is the ideal spot to relax after a long day of fishing - that's good too- and everyone, including the children, enjoyed the stay immensely.My five-year-old was in tears when we told her on Sunday morning that we had to go home. Her "Why can't we stay until Christmas?" was a really difficult question to answer.I'll most certainly be back."
