Garingboom Guest Farm

Garingboom Guest Farm has two self-catering cottages and three en-suite cottages. It is an eco-friendly Karoo sheep farm situated in the Southern Free State, 150 km south of Bloemfontein on the N1. Two trails on the farm provide the opportunity to do some birding and walking on your own.

We offer accommodation in comfortable fully equipped, two-bedroom cottages under shady trees. Each unit includes air-conditioning, a TV, kitchenette, fridge, barbecue facilities and covered parking. Breakfast and special Karoo lamb dinners are also available.

Over 140 species of birds are listed on the farm. These include the burchell's courser, layard's titbabler, blue korhaan, rock pipit and many other Karoo specials. Ritte is an experienced birder and special birding trips, horse rides and dragonfly spotting can be arranged with her.

"We were only staying for an overnight but managed to get there in time for a small stroll on one of the two trails on the farm. Their is information on the trails in the visitors guide and the trails are well marked. The rooms are comfortable with a fridge which holds drinks which you can purchase which is useful if you forget to pick something up on the way. We did not do dinner but a 3 course meal is offered if you request it. The rooms were comfortable and there is a lovely view onto the farm. It is nice to be far away from the N1. Only the Karoo noises at night. Breakfast was delicious with great service from the family. We will definitely be back."
