Steeped in history, this original stone house dates back 122 years. The period's fireplaces, teak floors and original pressed ceilings add to the Old World charm of the house. The house is centrally situated between Muizenberg and the picturesque villages of Kalk Bay and St James. Here one can walk across the road to the St James' tidal pool, with its coloured huts and postcard beach or stroll along the boardwalk to Muizenberg beach, with its surf shops and seaside restaurants. Catholic and Anglican churches are all within walking distance. The three bedrooms and yoga room are situated on the second floor and all face the sea with uninterrupted views from every window. Thick stone walls cocoon you in a peaceful calm and the rooms are well appointed and stylishly decorated with comfort and ease in mind. The first floor living areas include a welcoming eat-in kitchen with a free-standing fireplace for those chilly evenings, a romantic dining room, TV room and formal lounge. The courtyard off the kitchen and dining room, is filled with potted herbs, vegetables, lavender bushes and lemon trees. Its central water fountain adds a formality to the green space and the sound of water adds tranquility to the home as it filters through the enormous French doors. The Mediterranean and wind-free climate in St James is world famous for whale watching and warm sea bathing. The house's wide veranda looks out over the coast with views all the way across to the mountains, and the tidal pool is clearly visible from the house where one can watch the children swim.
