A Little Farmhouse

The Little Farmhouse is situated in a leafy, wind-free glade which takes you back in time. The cottage is tranquil and comfortable with only the birds and sheep in the distance, while having easy access to shops and restaurants. The forest bath and shower is a romantic way of stargazing with a glass of bubbly. This is comfortable farm living with only the tame animals for company. You can spend your days lazing on the large patio with a book or choose to partake in a number of activities in and around Stanford. Horse riding, paddling on the river, birdwatching, hiking, eating at the country restaurants are a few examples. The unique little village of Stanford, overlooked by the moody slopes of the Klein River Mountains, lies just inland of False Bay, forming the tip of a triangle with the coastal towns of Hermanus and De Kelders. Peaceful and largely unaffected by change, Stanford is an eclectic mix of shops, galleries, restaurants and coffee shops, and the list of activities for a largely rural village exceeds ones expectations. When in Stanford, go to the Birkenhead Brewery, a boutique brewery open for beer tasting and lunches and the Stanford Walking Trail, which wends its way along the banks of the Klein River through the town and offers visitors some wonderful glimpses of the many birds in the area, including the endangered Blue Crane.

  • "Clean and neat"

    21 October 2018

"We had a lovely stay. Everything was extremely clean and neat. Lovely setting !!!Directions to the house need to be changed and made more accurate for the final less than1km. A sign or two stating "A Little Farmhouse" as you enter the farm and then at the final turn to the house would also help a lot."

  • "Birdsong and peace"

    23 July 2018

"We were a small group of friends looking for time to re-connect and what a wonderful place to do it. The Little farmhouse is comfortable and beautifully decorated. Fresh eggs and biscuits laid out, brushed cotton sheets, all wonderful. The serenity and birdsong makes for a wonderful background, with sheep and donkeys coming to visit. We will keep going back. Thank you Natalie"

  • "Ideal for kids"

    21 July 2014

"The cottage is marvellous for kids... the best part is the lack of technology and no TV! The kids had to play and do old fashioned stuff. The staff were brilliant coping with endless washing and giving us a constant supply of firewood. The kids loved the visit by the two resident donkeys and sheep wandering freely in the garden. The outside bath was also a hit!"
