Stilbaai Suidenrus

This beach house has an excellent location with wonderful breaker views and is on a dune directly above the beach. Experience the atmosphere reminiscent of a family beach house of the past with modern touches.

The house has direct access to a magnificent sandy beach (blue flag status), while the river mouth and lagoon are within 10 minutes walk. You can swim right in front of the house or walk a few meters to join swimmers at the main beach.

The house has four bedrooms and three bathrooms, two of which are en-suite. The main bedroom with standard double bed, living area and kitchen is on the first floor, while the other three bedrooms, which consist of one standard double bed and two bedrooms with single beds that can be used as twin beds are on the ground level. There are two decks with wonderful views. Even when the South Easter is blowing one can sit on the street deck, see the sea while experiencing hardly any wind.

You come here to enjoy the tranquillity, views, nature and safety the area offers. The only noise you will hear is that of the waves and you will hardly ever see a car in the street, except during Christmas and Easter holidays.

Stilbaai is on the banks of the picturesque Goukou River and is famous for its wonderful beaches. Walk alongside the beach to shell middens left by prehistoric peoples and view ancient stone fish traps that are still in use. There is also a eel hole you can visit. Nature reserves nearby. Well stocked grocery stores. Lovely for surfing the waves and swimming and water skiing in the river. Excellent for cycling.

Comprehensive sporting amenities ranging from a nine-hole golf course, two bowling greens, tennis and squash courts in conjunction with the mild climatic conditions and low rainfall. Still Bay is all about nature and tranquillity, with hardly any crime in the area.

Please note that the house is rented as a unit, no separate rooms to let.

Minimal rental of two days, from 14 December till 17 January the house is only available for one week rental at a time, no shorter options available. The building consists of two units and the house that is rented, is reflected on the photos. The other house is only used by the owner, primarily over Christmas and Easter weekend.

"Our family loved the idyllic location right on the beach and the endless sea views . We were really fortunate to see whales in front of the house and in the bay to to the west of the house and spent several hours enjoying the spectacle. We also enjoyed being able to walk directly onto the beach in front of the house with a short walk to the river mouth. The open plan second floor allowing views of the sea from the kitchen and lounge was wonderful and we found the house very comfortable, well-equipped with everything one could need and nicely decorated. The whole family enjoyed our stay and are very keen to return."

"Fantastic location. The house has all the necessary and kitchen fully equipped. The clever setup of outside social areas allow you to shelter from the main wind directions if needed. "We loved the view and the house and had a really good time staying in the house. Only thing that was uncomfortable was that we found the double beds to be very small and hard. They should also replace the electrical kettle as it is rusted inside and we could not use it. Also please note that the house has a wooden floor and therefore people sleeping downstairs will be disturbed by any movement in the upstairs living area."

"We have just returned from a week's holiday at Suidenrus and we had the most fabulous time. The house itself is extremely well appointed - loads of kitchen equipment, crockery, cutlery etc., as well as being very clean. The living area is all open plan, which gives a beautiful, airy presence. The views are spectacular and we found it one of our most relaxing holidays. Stilbaai itself is a lovely, quaint little town and the beaches are magnificent. We particularly liked being able to access the beach almost immediately from the house and do various walks. I would highly recommend this house - the owner is lovely to deal with too and nothing was too much trouble. Although the house has four bedrooms, we enjoyed that it was just the two of us, as we could use the bedroom upstairs, off the living area, which gave us constant sea views and lovely fresh air."

"The house looks very old and decorated with ancient furniture and things. On the one hand it is nice and unusual, but on the other hand - not very comfortable for living.<div>It appeared to be not very comfortable to stay there during the wet or windy days. In stormy weather the house is blown through by the wind. The most unpleasant is that everything inside is wet and smells mould especially in three bedrooms on the ground floor. The house is not equipped with Internet facilities.</div><div>In sunny weather it is a very nice place to stay, very quiet and safe place. The town is very nice.</div>"

"Our stay at Suidenrus was exceptional from start to finish. Although we only stayed for 5 nights it feels like much longer. You start relaxing from the moment you get there.<div><br /></div><div>The house feels homely and comfortable. Everything is clean and well maintained, and there is a lot of attention to detail. The house is well designed with the most fantastic views from the living area and kitchen.<div><br /></div><div>Best of all is the fact that it only takes a few steps to get to the beach. "We stayed at Stilbaai Suidenrus over the March school holidays and it was gorgeous. The house is beautifully situated on the beach and is close to the river. It is very well equipped and comfortable, with nice design touches..decks in front and back ensure that you don't miss the sunrise or set! We hope to return again!"
