March Hare Cottage is a charming self-catering cottage, sleeping up to four guests, situated in a delightful garden in the heart of Stormsriver Village. Stormsriver Village is situated in one of the most beautiful parts of the Garden Route. The impressive Tsitsikamma Mountains rise from an ecological wonderland of greenery with fynbos, natural forests and pine plantations luxuriating amongst an array of wild flowers which delight the eye for most of the year, but particularly in the spring and summer.
The country village, located 1 km from the N2 turn-off, has retained its rural roots with massive old trees, a few attractive shops including a showroom displaying a fascinating vintage Cadillac collection in an immaculate condition, an Adventure Centre, Post Office, and a character Cape Victorian-style hotel
March Hare Cottage is open plan and features double-height ceilings with skylights and is fully equipped to a high standard of comfort and design. The cottage contains a bedroom with an extra-length double bed with electric blanket, as well as a sleeper couch. The bathroom features a shower and Victorian bath and the living area features an open log fireplace. The verandah offers built-in barbecue facilities and is stacked with wood and charcoal, and safe parking behind automated gates is also provided. In addition, the cottage is conveniently situated adjacent to the hotel with its pub and restaurant.
The area is the heart of adventure territory, offering hiking trails, birding, forest canopy tours, bungee jumping, exploration of the Tsitsikamma National Park or simply unwinding the soul. Nearby, Stormsriver Mouth, situated in the National Park, offers a small well-maintained beach, a wonderful boarded walk up under a canopy of trees to a suspension bridge of the river mouth, as well as a popular restaurant overlooking the beach and restless sea.
The attractions of Plettenberg Bay are approximately 45 minutes drive away with many designer shops, restaurants and polo fields. Knysna is a further half an hours drive with its waterfront marina and upmarket shops, speciality restaurants for oysters, and short bay and Heads cruises.
"It is a nice old house, the price is ok, Stormsrivier Village is a nice place to stay. The house is a little too smal for four persons. Very close to the main street."
"A delightful stay in a charming cottage tucked into the trees."
"We had a lovely stay in this little cottage! It is the perfect place for a peaceful getaway! Thank you Glen for your hospitality!"
"the overall cottage is small and very cramped, would be ok for 2 people but definitely not 4 adults. electronic gate not working. general outside area need a good cleanup"
"Everything was amazing. Beautiful surroundings and Len was very charming. The whole feel of the cottage was fairy tale."
"What a wonderful stay. Peace and quiet and plenty of rest. Uncle Glenn being a wonderful host. What a pleasure!!!!"
"Everything we needed were supplied"
"We spent two nights in Glen's little cosy cottage, nestled in a beautiful garden at the end of Storms River Village, and we enjoyed those very much. You fall asleep with the sound of the crickets and you wake up with the sunshine falling through the windows.. The cottage has everything needed, cooking facilities, fridge, shower a barbecue place and an open fire place inside the house. It is simple, but furnished with attention to the detail. Someone who is looking for luxury is wrong here, someone looking for a place with heart is just right."
"We were well received by our host Len. The cottage is so nice and even there were no tv we enjoyed the quiet of the evening and walking around town."
"No Tv for 3 working men to come from work and there's nothing to watch......."
"Only tea. No coffee sugar or milk."
"We loved it all. Such an awesome host."
"Loved the Victorian be ath.A TV would have been a bonus. It would have been most welcome had there been some complimentary coffee and creamer."
"depressing, i could not cook in that kitchen we ate our meals out, it just gave me the creeps. the floor mats including that used in the bathroom are disgusting. the linen one could smell the soap had not been rinsed out properly. everything needed a good clean. it does not take much to clean, put some decent bathmats down. Please get another kettle that is disgusting. I could not wait to leave. Glen is a dear old man but someone needs to step in for the sake of the future clients."
"A warm and cozy place, old school style. We had a wonderful time there, and the owner Glenn is a true gentleman!"
"From the outside the little cottage looks like something out of a fairy tale but unfortunately the inside does not match its idyllic picture. <br/><br/>The venue was clean enough, but unfortunately water damage has left some places rotting and molding eg: the bathroom door and skirting<br/><br/>The furniture is most shabby and in most places falling apart, out beautiful grand bed had all its beams come loose and rattle every time you moved. Majority of the furniture can be removed, it is just clutter. <br/><br/>Hopefully these can be attended to, as the cottage has all the makings of being just lovely<br/><br/>"
"Centrally located and with a very welcoming host, and his friendly dog, you will enjoy staying at this picturesque and quaint cottage. Cosy and equipped with the vital amenities, the stay will always be memorable:)"
"The cottage lies in a beautiful big and quiet garden and you can do different activities on walking distance.<div>We were very disappointed of the inside of the cottage. It is not clean (especialy the douche, bath and the sink) and smells awfull. The old TV had only 1 channel.</div><div><br /></div>"
"The March Hare cottage was a stunning little place nestled beneath the trees and surrounded by a well-groomed garden.<div><br /></div><div>The Owner, was very polite and made sure we had everything. The place was very clean, had a lovely Victorian bath and we enjoyed a peaceful braai on the stoep, whilst listening to the birds tweet in the trees above. The cottage is a quick walk away from the popular Marilyn's 60's diner and the Tsitikamma Micro Brewery.<div><br /></div><div>The cottage has everything one needs to have a relaxing weekend in the little village of Storms River.</div></div>"
"We found the cottage charming, light and clean. All that we needed to self cater was there . The bed is very comfortable and we were well looked after, Win Wilson Randburg"
"What a wonderful cottage, wonderful host.Loved the peace and quiet. Thanks Glenn and Finnigan, our four-legged furry host!"
"This tranquil little cottage was exactly what we needed after coming from a busy city. Both Glen and Finnigin (the dog) was warm and welcoming. The place was fine, considering what we paid. It needs to be aired before guests arrive as it was a bit dusty. Overall, I enjoyed my stay. Thanks!"
"The surroundings are very serene, a typical holiday place you would want to visit, but the place is simply not clean enough. The linen in the lounge area was simply dirty, and the bathroom looks scary."
"The cottage is very central and secluded. It needs attention (cleaning). The place is a bit mouldy and bed and sleepercoach is not up to standard. Maybe for the price????"
"Our family (2 adults and two teenagers) stayed at March Hare Cottage in late October. It was a very enjoyable stay - Glenn was a great host. We would recommend it for an overnight stay whilst touring the Garden Route."
"What a lovely experience. Both Glen and Finnigan (the dog) are delightful and the cottage is charming. Peace and quiet in a beautiful garden...a pleasure."
"The cottage is situated very close to many activities which is fabulous. However, we were very disappointed with the state of the cottage. Since the last time we had been there, 6 years ago, it had deteriorated quite substantially. Floors had not been cleaned (our feet were filthy), and sheets and towels had stains on them - even though we were assured they were clean. There were moisture stains on the walls and the basin in the bathroom was very rusty. Glen is a real honey and very helpful, and the dog, Finagen, is just lovely. It was a real shame seeing how much it had deteriorated."
"This was so unexpected, beautiful little cottage in the heart of the village, jet very private, and set in magical garden, and there is so many acivities you can do just around the corner!"
"We really enjoyed our stay at March Hare Cottage. We were only able to stay one night while we ventured down the Garden Route but we definitely recommend the cottage, Glen and Finnegan (the charming dog)."
"We are a family of four (my girls are aged 10 and 6) and we stayed at this cottage for three nights in June. We had a wonderful stay in the quiet, beautiful surroundings reminiscent of an English country cottage set in a country garden. The cottage is small, but the four of us didn't feel cramped. It is tastefully furnished and has all the modern conveniences, but has a rustic charm. The owner was most attentive and kept us supplied with a regular supply of firewood and bottled water and nothing was too much trouble. It was a lovely little base to come back to after exploring the beautiful surroundings. This will certainly be our accommodation of choice when we return to Storms River."
"It is a lovely private cottage in a stunning setting which we will recommend to anyone."
