  "This place is an awesome place to unwind and forget about the city life, it nested deep in the forest with awesome garden view and the sea view, you are in the farm surrounded by the calming spirit of animals. One this about the cottages is that they are not well cleaned, the rustic look make you feel at home but there is a difference between rustic and old broken down furniture, the cleaners just tidy up they don't sweep nor use furniture dusters cause you can see old crumbs around the kitchen side, there is spider webs on the ceiling that caught flies and insects long time ago, the wardrobe door is held by piece of tissue to close and has a terrible stench which we couldn't use at all. The worst part is that when the cottages are closed they become stuffy due to their surroundings and wetlands, meaning they constantly needs windows to be opened before guests arrive and use automatic airfreshners to fresh up the rooms. The cottages are beautiful and good value for money but cleaners are making this to be a terrible area to unwind in. Seems the owners are paying more attention to the high end apartments with sea views and the domes cause we got a chance to view the forest dome which was amazing will definitely book for our honeymoon . Great stop for garden route travel, if using a small car the 2.6km gravel road leading to the area maybe problematic. Please look after the cottages cause they history behind them makes you feel connected to the place."

  "We had a great home cooked comfort meal. Cottages were really cute. Bit of a fly issue at the beginning, but quickly sorted out. Nice trail walk. Overall - really enjoyed ourselves."

  "Unfortunately Safari now and Misty had a break in communication as our booking was not received. We arrived on our wedding night to find that no such booking was recorded. A guest gave up their suite to accomodate us as Misty had no vacancies."

  "We were warmly welcomed by the staff, who were most accommodating and helpful. We were provided with welcome cocktails and made to feel quite 'at home' by everyone. We stayed in the farm cottages which are tastefully decorated and have everything that one needs and are very comfortable. We were allowed full use of the lodge facilities such as the pub and pool and loved the 'foot golf'. Misty Mountain was a wonderful treat and I will definitely stay there again"

  "It all started with the warm, welcoming smiles from the staff. We were given complimentary drinks before being shown to our room. We stayed in The Swan room (self catering). We then set out on our first adventure, the David Lane trail. We went a bit further than the trail allowed but we found the most amazing spot right at the top of the mountain. After recovering from the walk we attempted a swim in the pool where the staff brought us towels and pillows to relax on. I could go on forever talking about how wonderful this place was, but I think you should go check it out for yourself!"

  "The unit was really lovely and had all the necessary facilities. The staff were very friendly and helpful. When something went wrong in the unit, it was fixed immediately (Justin the manager was hands on and went out of his way to make things comfortable). The view was to die for. Only real complaint we had was that the bed was extremely squeeky and you could hardly turn and it made a noise. Maybe time for it to be replaced. Otherwise we enjoyed the stay."

  "My companion and I arrived at MMR late in the evening and were greeted like long lost friends, which was quite a welcome after the 6 hour drive from Cape Town, in the driving winter rain! The staff were friendly and accommodating and the lodges (wood/timber cabins) are well suited to travelers. We stayed in a bed and breakfast option (Doves) but there are lodges set up for self catering with BBQs outside and rudimentary kitchens indoors. The bathroom in our cabin was well proportioned with a jacuzzi bath and shower. We made full use of the bath to warm up, using piping hot water, after being exposed to the Cape winter cold and rain. The cabin room holds a kingsize bed made up of two singles which was comfortable enough but slightly too soft for my taste. It was warm and the linen was good quality percale cotton with a warm duvet and plenty of blankets. The cabins stand on tilts but are perfectly insulated for winter and fitted with heaters for warmth. In summer a ceiling fan is fitted to move air around. After a fitful nights sleep we were surprised by the wonderful views of the sea from the main bed, having arrived in the dark the previous evening, and views of the forest from the bathroom. The lodge is accessed from the front and rear by purpose built wooden walk ways. The food in the evening was a hearty meal of both beef roast and chicken ala king, accompanied by salad and followed by a fridge tart. The food was filling and of good quality, given the logistics of getting supplies to the reserve. We had a well-priced white wine with our meal but the reserve offers beers, hard liquor and soft drinks too. The breakfast in the morning was hot, well cooked and made with fresh ingredients. It was tasty and made to order. I had a soft fried eggs and my companion had poached, which were both as we ordered and from farm fresh eggs. The reserve was a dairy farm in its past existence but still has some cows and animals to provide some ingredients and the milk was fresh and creamy as a result. All in all we had a good stay and will return should the opportunity arise. To get to the reserve follow the directions from N2 and ignore the Safari.com directions which are listed as a detour but this information is out of date."

  "My husband and I stayed in the Honeymoon Chalet for our Anniversary and we could not have asked for a better place to stay.Relaxing, rejuvinating and beautifull.We took a lovely walk through the reserve and did a 16km bike trail through the Tsitsikamma bush and ended up at a Lookout over the Storms river resort. Absolutely stunning.The Fireplace and the Jacuzi bath made our stay extra romantic!Thank you!"

Sleeping in your private wooden chalet, overlooking the ocean with absolutely nothing disturbing you is fantastic.Highly recommended if you are looking for pure relaxation. The 3 course dinner in the lodge was the overall best dining experience we had during 3 weeks in SA, though it was reasonable priced."
