The Fernery Lodge & Chalets
Imagine sitting above a 30-metre waterfall, with breath-taking views of a river gorge and the wild Indian Ocean. This is the setting of The Fernery Lodge. It is hard to decide whether to admire the incredible surroundings from the Lodge's deck area with jacuzzi and sauna, or to enjoy it from any one of the six deluxe suites.
Each suite is tastefully decorated and every effort has been made to ensure our guests' comfort, from en-suite bathrooms, flat-screen TV with limited DSTV bouquet, to a private deck with beautiful views. At the end of a tough day relaxing, guests can wander through our wine cellar and select a bottle of wine before making their way to the dining room with its special ambiance, for excellent cuisine.
The Chalets are beautiful and secluded. Experience the Tsitsikmma as if you were the first to discover it. The chalets are B&B based, each beautifully appointed and privately located, so you can enjoy a peaceful paradise experience. Relax in nature and treat your soul to views of mystical waterfalls, rock pools and the vast Indian Ocean.
The B&B chalets sleep two in either twin or king size luxury, whereas the family chalets sleep four and have fully equipped kitchenettes, making them ideal for families - or choose one of the plush twin chalets (ideal for two couples) which offer en-suite bathrooms and private lounges, fully equipped kitchen and a private plunge pool on the deck. All the chalets are beautifully decorated and each chalet has a unique theme inspired by its magnificent surroundings.
Enjoy the tranquility of the mountains and forests from the privacy of the sheltered deck or curl up in front of the cosy ceramic fireplace with a good book. End the evening with a barbecue on your deck - simply arrange beforehand and you will be provided with everything from the ingredients to the Weber. Facilities: swimming pool, Jacuzzi, sauna is at the guests disposal. A large Jacuzzi, perched on the edge of the river gorge, is a favorite with our guests, and can be enjoyed with a bottle of wine or champagne.

Our chalet was a delight with a huge bed, kitchenette, tv area and a bathroom with a bath and two showers and towel warmer. The Fernery had a very relaxing effect on us and we will definitely be back."

12 May 2013"We really enjoyed our time away here. The chalets are great, bathrooms amazing with views... champagne bathtub ocean-view setting. They have thought of everything. There's even a bird hide overlooking a little lake where there are boats that you can paddle out in. The dining area is a bit staid and dry and could use a bit of a chipper to hack out the ice. Otherwise a great break and will certainly go back."

06 January 2009"As our second visit to the Fernery we loved our stay as much as our first.The chalets set right on the edge of the river ravine with the surrounding nature was just what we needed to end one of our most stressful years.One comment I do need to make is that having visited the Fernery prior to this visit we were a little disappointed to experience the breakfast room in the lodge was now not available to the chalets and the room we had our breakfast in was not nearly an experience as that of the lodge. This was explained to be due to season and the lodge being full which did prove to be a little ofa disappointment.That said it was not enough to make our stay any less pleasurable and we are sure to be back again hopefully in the not too distant future and to make the Fernery our regular retreat from reality!"

21 April 2008"This place is truly stunning though we did nearly lose the will to live on the road to get there. Our room was exceptional, very comfortable and a unique experience. We were very sorry we were only there for one night. We found the service of wines a little confusing and the staff not as well informed about them as perhaps they should have been. There was also some confusion over the deposit paid when it came to pay the bill not helped by the rather confusing way the bill was presented.The trails map left something to be desired with a lack of clarity, detail and no scale!!"

The complex itself is about 7/8 kms down a dirt track which can prove to be rather bumpy in places.However, it is worth the drive, chalets are spacious and well furnished with a large bathroom.The restaurant at the Lodge is well worth visiting we had two excellent dinners there.Would thoroughly recommend The Fernery, just drive slowly!"

The only two negative comments that I do have is that the shower in our chalet was very difficult to operate, weak water pressure, too cold. We would like to go back there but will not do so untill I own a 4X4. The road are terrible and I could not put my car through that again."
