  • "Enjoyed our stay at Hornbills!"

    08 January 2016

"Hornbills ended up being more than what I expected, only stayed for one night, but if I knew how beautiful the surroundings were, I would have stayed longer. Definately a place to visit if you want to get away from it all. Good value for money!"

  • "A Magical Place"

    05 January 2016

"At first i was hesitant after reading 1 review about the neighbours cows and flies<div><br /></div><div>We experienced absolutely none of what was in that review.</div><div>After a long journey through the Eastern Cape we arrived in Stutterheim. The manicured gardens are 2nd only to Kirstenbosch (and by not much)</div><div><br /></div><div>The host was most welcoming. A pity I did not stay longer as we could of sat in the gardens and spoke for days.</div><div><br /></div><div>The accommodation is great for an overnighter. It is by no means 5 star nor does it attempt to sell itself as such. I would say it is a rustic 3 star establishment. Very clean with exceptional and beautiful surroundings.</div><div><br /></div><div>I will definitely be back in the near future</div><div><br /></div><div>Aadil Kirsten<br /><div><br /></div></div>"

    13 April 2015

"We enjoyed our stay at this lovely pet friendly venue. Magnificent gardens."

  • "A lovely haven"

    03 January 2014

"After some difficulty in finding the venue, we were made very welcome and Richard went out of his way to help us settle in. Our extended family and grandchildren enjoyed the swimming pool and lovely garden. A walk to find the fairies in the forest is highly recommended - for adults a quiet contemplative stroll will dispel any hassles."

  • "Enjoyable"

    30 May 2012

"Yes we enjoyed our stay, cottage was comfortable and Sigrid welcoming. Only aspect which could improve is the layout of the kitchen, its not user friendly."

  • "Brilliant break!"

    16 February 2012

"This was an absolute breath of fresh air. Beautiful gardens - a lovely little fairy trail to follow and the hospitality was second to none! We truly arrived as strangers but left feeling part of the family, as we were welcomed into their home and genuinely felt like one of them - so down to earth, hospitable and concerning! Absolute pleasure to stay here and we would definitely recommend it for a great weekend break. Absolutely loved it. Thank you very much for making our stay so very special."

  • "Wonderful getaway"

    29 August 2011

"What a gem of a discovery; peaceful, and quiet, a bubbling stream and a shady forest at the bottom of the garden, and spotless, comfortable accommodation. And that's not all; the hosts provided us with fine fare, and great company. We'll be back."

  • "Amazing, relaxing and tranquil"

    18 July 2011

"We loved our stay at Hornbills. Were welcomed back in the early evening after a drive to St Matthews with a fire having been lit for us in the sitting room hearth. The main rooms are spacious and open with a view of the forest and the start of the Fairie walk. Thank you, we will cherish our memories of the time we spent here for years to come."

  • "Stay in a beautifull garden"
