• "Fabulous stay!"

    02 July 2022

"Great place to stay. Heaters, electric blankets, and a fireplace make for a safe haven from the cold. Also be sure to attend Jurgs stargazing evenings."

  • "Dave and Jen Levene disappointment at accommodation"

"The directions we were supplied with stated TURN RIGHT ONTO BASSON STREET they should have read Turn Left at 4 way stop onto Basson street ( Sutherland does not have many names on their streets.)
We eventually arrived having asked at the Police Station . An officer drove in front of us to show the way.
Jurg does not live on the premises so we had to phone him and he told us to look in an electric safe in the Braai area. Using the combination he gave we could open the safe and get the key. It was at this stage when he said we were in the building on the left (The Annex) The cottage being on the right . Having put off our trip to Suthereland for 2 years due to my wife's hospitalisation we decided to make the best of a BAD situation, then a party of three arrive and took up residence in the cottage.
Now 1, as we start to settle in we realise that there is no where to put any thing down other than the Bed, the Floor or a tiny draining board on the sink unit which only has a cold tap,
2, there was one chair but no table. There were two garden chairs and a small table outside but the mornings were still too cold to be comfortable out there and there was no room to put them inside.
3, no where to prepare food
4, The hot tap in the bathroom hand basin is loose and you need 2 hands to turn it on ( 1 to hold it and 1 to turn it)
5' there is a fire place out side the door and a Braai Grid next to the kitchen sink BUT nothing to rest the Grid on.
I had to go find some bricks in the veld.
No where in any of our correspondence with you did we get the impression that we would NOT be in the Cottage,
no mention on your web site of the Annex being let separate from the cottage."

"We were accommodated in both the Skrywershuisie and Annex. Both were clean and comfortable. The highlight of our stay was definitely the stargazing evening with Jurg Wagener. Sutherland is a beautiful small town well worthy of a visit."
