Augusta de Mist is a lifestyle retreat set on 1.5 hectares of eclectic fynbos, away from the hustle and conveniently located in the historic Drostdy Quarter of Swellendam.It has a solid reputation for its breath-taking gardens, attention to detail, excellent services and delicious cuisine. The garden suites are unique with total privacy and intimate settings. The suites have wood-burning fireplaces, air-conditioning, TVs with DStv access, a small movie library, music stations and board games.For a unique dinner experience, book a table at Augustas African Kitchen with its focus on pan-African cuisine, reflecting the variation and depth of the African continent. There is also a fragrant herb- and vegetable gardens, fruit trees and a small olive orchard.The swimming pool area has a large willow tree with oak rocking chairs, ideal to relax with a cocktail. At one point the estate was a rose farm, and evidence of this is everywhere. Beautiful heritage roses are seen from the densely meadow-style plantings, and lavender grows in abundance.Pathways are always being added to maximise the garden experience and seating is constantly being introduced in all the areas. Coffee and tea is served on the front patio area, with beautiful views of the rose bushes, large trees and the small croquet patch.
