Home in the country, away from the traffic, city life and the general commotion that goes along with it, Elandsdraai Farm Camping and Cottages offers the modern traveller simple and stylish self-catering accommodation, all year round on a farm in Tesselaarsdal.
Here one can let the sunlight set the agenda, explore the gorgeous farm land, swim in the dam or curl-up for an afternoon read on the patio, while the kids play outside on the lawn. Evenings are spent around the indoor fire stove or outside by the braai.
All in all Elandsdraai Farm Camping offers recreational living at its finest.
The bathhouse is situated outside.
The quiet community of Tesselaarsdal lies high in the mountains of the Western Cape's Overberg region. Barely a speck on the map, the town lies untouched by modern society and her urban grasp, and offers beautiful farm lands and serene vistas, privately protected in a small tightly knit community.
"This was not a good experience at all. Or rather, it was no experience. We arrived a bit early on the day (13:30) after travelling on a horrible road through an active dam construction area, and found absolutely nobody at the cottages or on the farm. The contact telephone number given to me was incorrect (one digit in the number missing). We could not get through to any Safarinow contact numbers either. Albeit that nothing in the advertisement is blatantly 'incorrect', it also does not correctly reflect what the accommodation is like. It was not understood that the 'bathrooms' are outside (can be seen and interpreted as such on the photos now that I was actually there). I had two people in my group who really needed relative easy access to toilets, especially during the night, and this was not possible. The kitchen setup is below 'average'. 'Simple' accommodation is rather an euphemism in this case. Nowhere is it indicated that to get to the cottages the road is horrid and that a high vehicle or 4x4 is at least recommended. I would not attempt the road even with a standard sedan-type rental vehicle. Directions to the farm is extremely bad and I had to stop and enquire a few times to get there. What is also disappointing is that nobody ever bothered to phone and find out if we are there, or why did we not arrive. Well, they had our money, so why worry. I can see that Elandsdraai may appeal to a certain type of traveller, but I will not recommend it for the 'average' family. I am also disappointed in my overall customer experience with Safarinow, compared to the highly professional services I have experienced from other INTERNET-based online booking businesses and agents."
