Part of the Cape Dutch Quarters portfolio, Yellowood House is for those who appreciate beautiful things. This delightful Cape Dutch house, built in the 1780s, is in pristine original condition with yellowwood floors and ceilings throughout.
Thoughtfully appointed with antiques and artwork, it has lots of character and makes for a very special stay. Surprisingly large and spacious, the house sleeps up to five guests - perfect for a family or two couples. The large main bedroom is tastefully furnished and dominated by its antique brass four-poster bed. The large family room offers a Victorian brass queen-size bed and a separate single bed.
The house has a sunny veranda on Tulbagh's Church Street, leading into a large dining room and onto a large sitting room with DStv, while the fully equipped kitchen is ideal for those seeking self-catering accommodation. The house opens up onto two private courtyards, one with a barbecue, lapa and garden and the other a sunny cobbled space. Enjoy a barbecue or a romantic dinner outside on sultry Tulbagh evenings or take a dip in the pool at the Main House.
"The house is beautifully restored and very comfortable to stay in; Church Street has a special atmosphere and it is possible to relax and really enjoy the time."
"We stayed at the Manor House for one night. The rooms are beautifully decorated. Breakfast was superb, love the lounge area, stunning furtniture and paintings, lovely classical music. On the negative side, the rusk jar in our bedroom had not been filled since the last visitors (only crumbs left), the lamp shade needs some cleaning and repair and plenty of gnats had a feast on our ankles. Will stay here again though!"
