  "Like I said the place is nice, but the service from the owner is a bit dodgy<br/>She looks a bit desperate for money<br/>On my arrival having paid the whole amount through the EFT, she asked me to pay a holding fee of 500 which is refundable upon leaving if there is nothing damaged on the property<br/>She has dirty tricks that she comes with so that you do not receive back the money you paid as holding fee <br/>She entered the unit when I was out, on my return she claimed that the pillow cases have stains from a dye <br/>My wife and I do not use any dye, in fact I don't even have hair on my head <br/>She was hoping to deduct money from the deposit we gave her. <br/>My advice for her is to delegate someone to do the job for her <br/><br/>On a nutshell I have visited a number of guest houses in Durban, but I have never seen the owner who is so desperate for money<br/>Honestly she I felt unhappy and unwelcome."

  "I do think that a complimentary tea tray,a bar of soap and some shampoo would have been very welcome considering we arrived at 18.30 in the evening...too late to go out and buy these things. The lady managing was most amenable though asking us to sign the guest at 22.30 as we returned from our dinner seemed a bit strange.Blockout curtains at the small window preventing bright light from the patio would be wonderful."

  "It was a very warm &amp; friendly welcome from Diane by giving us a information around Sharka rocks area and all attractions in Durban. House is a high class and we had our privacy with no person interupting our stay. Place is close to Gateway mall,beach front. I will highly recommend other guest to have a stay in Gateway guest lodge. Area for improvement is to have complementary for issuing tea and coffies. I will rate it 9 out of 10."

  "We had an overnight stay at Gateway, and from the moment we arrived Diane made us feel welcome and our stay very pleasant. The rooms were smart and well kept and gave the aura of a true home away from home. Its a pity we were not able to stay there longer to truly experience the Durban hospitality. I would recommend this cosy lodge to anyone looking for a decent place that's out of the way and yet close enough to everything."

  "Set in the quietsub-urbia of Somerset Park in Umhlanga Rocks<span style="text-decoration: underline;">;</span>Gateway Guest Lodge is a great base whilst visiting the KZN North Coast. It is 5 mins from Gateway Theatre of Shopping; 20mins to Durban CBD and just 10 mins from the Umhlanga Rocks Beach Front. The facilities are of a high standard and the kitchen is fully equipped; nothing was lacking. We were extremely comfortable in this spacious unit and enjoyed our stay. Our Hostess Diane was incredible in terms of the welcome when we checked in; as well as being prompt to attend to correspondence in the lead-up to our booking. We shall be back!!!"
