Enter the true nature of comfort at Kalahari Monate Lodge, where the fusion of nature and hospitality is unequalled. We are 12km north of Upington on-route to the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park on the R360.
Kalahari Monate Lodge consists of six luxurious self-catering, fully furnished chalets with air-conditioning, as well as camping facilities with very neat ablution blocks. There is also a swimming pool for guests to cool off in. Barbecue and camping facilities with ablution blocks can be found in the camping ground, and the lodge also offers two thatched lapas and a small kiosk.
Kalahari Monate Lodge offers an abundance of birdlife for bird enthusiasts. There are also Springbucks on the premises.

"Kalahari Monate Lodge is the best place to stay near Upington."
"Fantastic showers after a long trip and good location close to town the only criticism is that although there are braai facilities there is nowhere to sit in front of an open fire in the eveing perhaps a small area could be made for this"
"We stayed at Monate on our trip up to the Kgalagadi and were due to stay there again tomorrow on our return but have decided to drive the extra 550km to Colesberg."
"This is an ideal stopover en route to Kgalagadi and Namibia. The facilities are well maintained and clean. We enjoyed our stay and will certainly be back."
"No one was there to check us in and it was 2pm! I had to call on arrival and even then no one came to the front, just told us the gate code. I had to call again once we were in to find out what the WiFi password was and to enquire about the game drive thats advertised! Its veen a no enter zone for over a year. Very misleading as its the only reason we booked. Not a lot of grass, would never swim in the pool. Bathrooms were clean."
"Bathrooms where great. No need to improve anything7"
"Just loved it all. Beautifull ablution block. Clean neat and tidy...so peacefull and quiet..except for one man chasing past our stand with his bakkie several times.."
"Loved the clean ablutions with plenty of hot water. It is very frustrating and disappointing when you arrive and there is no-one there to help you or direct you.We got into the camp site by accident behind some other vehicles. When we phoned the lady she said she would come through. We saw no-one. We had paid already which was a pity as we could have stayed free as no-one came to see us !! At least we did not feel guilty !The pool was unusable and in bad state. in fact that and the site in general resemble nothing like the photos on the web page !!But it was ok for what we needed"
"The tariff is too high for what is offered. The accommodation is quite small in comparison with similar offers."
"Forget how clear the sky was, how beatifull nature is in thips part of our land, even if it is dry."
"the website mentioned access to the nature reserve, but that appeared to be wrong information."
"Veryclean and good facilities."
"We were impressed with the ablution block. Beautifully appointed and spotlessly clean including the wash-up facility. We were disappointed that we had some trouble getting in as there was no one to meet us. The gate was locked and the cell phone numbers on the gate were not answered when we called. We hooted at the gate and a lady appeared who gave us the gate code.we were also somewhat disappointed that at the campsites we chose (several of them) the current was out of order. The noise of the traffic was a little upsetting while we were awake, but did not wake us or keep us awake at night."
"Campsite just outside the town (13 km), bathrooms very very clean ! The swimming pool was unfortunately closed. We enjoyed our 2 nights stay."
"Peaceful, clean facilities. 5 star. Will definitely be back."
"Dis die rustigste, lekkerste stilte vir jou siel plekkie met die springbokkies op jou voorstoep. Regtig aan te beveel. Geen televisie nie."
"The campsite is very neat, clean and comfortable. The caf nearby has everything you need and very interesting handcraft and other souvenirs to enjoy or buy. The springbucks in the campsite create a real safari atmosphere."
"Camping site with a lot of shade.<br/>Standard, clean ablution.<br/>Nice swimming pool."
"We really enjoyed our stay. The chalet was clean and well equipped and our hosts were friendly and went out of their way to make us feel welcome. Will definitely stay over there again when we are in the area."
"11 guys from PE were pleasantly surprised by the neat, spacious and well stocked self catering units. The setting is a rustic and magnificent Kalahari setting. We were stunned by a majestic sunset which will remain in our memories for some time. Some Springbuck were feeding close by and we had a refreshing swim in the pool. Most enjoyable."
"The chalets are comfortable and have all the required necessities. However, I wil not call it luxurious as the advertisement did. Basic stuff, nothing exceptional. Peacefull and quite and lovely to have the buck roaming so close. <br />The game drive is not suitable for ordinary motor cars as advised at reception. <br />"
"Stayed over one night on the way back from the Kgalagadi. Site is very basic but ablutions and braais are clean.<span style="line-height: 1.5;">Pool is small but clean and cool.</span><div>Can be very windy and there is noise from the road, but that is at all the lodgings here I expect.</div>"
"This is a great camping site for a stopover en route to Kgalagadi or Namibia - clean, comfortable, spacious, safe and organised, with welcoming, friendly hosts. We first stayed here in 2008 and six years later it is as lovely as we remembered it. We will definitely be back. Thank you."
"It was a good place to stay before we went to the Kgalagadi. The lodge was good and we had a lot of space. It was quiet and relaxed."
