"Canal Quays is advertised as being Waterfront. However it nowhere close to the shopping area and restaurants and the touristy "marina" area. The owner, Zelda replied that in the small print the description states "working harbor" and "zoned" as waterfront.<br />The view at the back faces old steel industrial structures and the front faces the back end of the harbor and shipping containers. The place is surrounded by gravel and remnants of demolished concrete. The canal does not function and there is a stagnant pool of seawater adjacent.<br />The walkway to the Marina area passes under an overpass and the gate along this path is locked by the building security at 7 pm. They advised it is not safe to walk there at night and to take a taxi instead.<br />The owner said many tourists have enjoyed renting her place. Many tourists do not know better and the visits are brief and transient. <br />You can do much better than stay at Canal Quays.<br />"
"Excellent location in Cape Town that ensured close proximity to the V&A (accessed by scenic 5-10 min stroll along the canal). Perfect for our party of 3 who wanted to stay together in luxury but without the expense of 2 rooms in a V&A hotel or the intensity of the CBD inner city area. Decor was outstanding, and having own space to come back to over the few days was a big plus. Host arranged transfers each way meaning visit was totally stress free. Welcome basket of goodies and fridge stocked with essentials was a lovely touch. Would definitely recommend."
