De Oude Scholen Bed and Breakfast

De Oude Scholen is a beautiful guest house situated in the Karoo town of Victoria West. This building was the first public school in Victoria West and was established in 1891.

Now a guest house, it offers nine bedrooms and one self-catering unit. The comfortably furnished bedrooms are all individually decorated and have comfortable bedding and mosquito nets. The rooms all have electric blankets and are equipped with TVs and fridges. All the units have their own private entrances and en-suite bathrooms. On the premises there is also an entertaining area with braai and a swimming pool.

Make sure you take in De Oude Pastorie, the oldest building in town. This dinky Anglican Church was built in 1869 and boasts lovely stained glass windows. Also visit the Mannetjies Roux museum at the Victoria Trading Post.

  • "Everything needed was there!"

    11 October 2022

"Had a nice warm shower, then slept like a log in a clean bed. The DSTV remote is not working well, a replacement will probably do the trick, but otherwise everything perfect. Loved the back-up light when loadshedding started. It told me the owner is well prepared. Oh, and the spare key was an absolute winner!"

  • "Horrid hostess"

    29 January 2013

"This is the most unfriendly "hostess" I have ever encountered! First she gave half our booking away and then when we could not stay in what she'd left us with, denied all responsiblity for it! Do not book with Oude Scholen. She will kick you out."

  • "Average"

"Shower facility not private and nonfunctional."
