Granny Goose

Granny Goose is a lovely farm-style guest house offering friendly hospitality and affordable prices. Situated in Volksrust, a quiet South African town with plenty of history and cultural sights to enjoy, accommodation is provided in 25 comfortable en-suite double bedrooms and three self-catering units ( 7 , 5 and 4 sleeper). In addition, there is also a small restaurant, tea-garden, nursery and a lovely garden for relaxation.

Situated close to many famous battle sites, Volksrust became a municipality in 1904 and is currently the commercial centre of an area where maize, wool, sorghum, sunflower seed, beef, and dairy are all farmed and produced. The remains of the Convention Bridge on Grens-spruit have been proclaimed a National Monument and is a popular tourist attraction.

Two memorials, both dedicated to victims of the two Transvaal-Britain Wars, are also found in the town. The Tamatieberg, north of Volksrust, is a popular paragliding venue and many visitors come from nearby towns on a regular basis to enjoy the paragliding offered by Volksrust. A fine collection of crafts, paintings, home produce, and homemade furniture can be bought here for you to take back home as souvenirs.

  • "Beautiful Garden"

"The gardens were a delight. For our style of accommodation we would want communal cooking facilities and a lounge to relax in. There was a microwave but no dish which could be used to heat food on."
