Volksrust Guest House

Volksrust Guest House offers five exclusive and luxurious individually decorated en-suite rooms, in a quiet neighbourhood. The guest house is surrounded by a tranquil garden with large trees. All the rooms have percale linen, TVs with DStv, tea and coffee facilities, private entrances, safes for valuables and secure parking on the premises.

Volksrust is a quaint South African town with plenty of history and cultural sights. Situated close to many famous battle sites, Volksrust is currently the commercial centre of an area where maize, wool, sorghum, sunflower seed, beef and dairy are all farmed and produced. The Tamatiesberg lies north of Volksrust and is a popular paragliding venue; many visitors come from nearby towns on a regular basis to enjoy this activity. A fine collection of crafts, paintings, home produce and home-made furniture can be purchased here.

"When we arrived there, the place appeared deserted. After phoning the numbers provided (on the e-mails and on the signpost), we noticed a small, inconspicuous piece of cardboard was glued to the gate. On this there was a number. We phoned them and the cook came to open for us. He was very friendly and helpful, and ushered us to our room, after signing in at reception (which was covered in the smell of burnt pap). The room was fine and well equipped. However, there was no trashcan, so we found some trash (a pack of unused Trust condoms) on the cupboard which must have belonged to previous guests. We slept over without incident, and in the morning the cook was very friendly and helpful, and he served us a delightful breakfast. Won't be staying here again.<br></br> <b>Establishment's response</b><br></br> <i>I've read the comment and I appologise for that bad experience. We did fire the manager, (cook, as the customer refered to him) and we employed a new manageress with great success. A total different atmosphere and quality of service is currently present and we wish we could make up to the customer for the bad experience they had.</i>"
