"1. Driveway from the main road was very steep; deserves mention not to come as a surprise to potential clients who may be towing a heavy trailer on their trip. 2. There were 3 Pomeranian dogs on the property, cute, but if you were not careful you might step in their poop in the courtyard and carry the stink with you into your bedroom. 3. I requested a fruit platter prior to arrival as a surprise for my spouse; the caretaker asked me about it on arrival and brought it to the bedroom unceremoniously when when we were brining in our luggage. It was over-priced for the content and presentation, didn't look fresh and tasted like it had stayed on a shelf for over 12 hours. 4. The reception we received at checkin was underwhelming; no offense to the staff member who was delegated with the task, but she did not come across as a professional receptionist, more like a housekeeper just filling in; no etiquette, interacting with us very casually in a matter of fact way, not like welcome paying guests. 5. We enquired about the menu and the layout of the venue, since we had seen a garden in the adverts; the housekeeper seemed surprised, said there was no menu - if you wanted to order dinner you would be served whatever was in the kitchen on the day; not even a chalkboard indicating what was available. As for breakfast, the only choice offered was how you wanted your eggs served. The rest was mentioned as a take it or leave it fruit salad, bacon, sausage and toast. Coffee and tea sachets were available with cold milk and hot water. As for the garden, the housekeeper said she would point out the access to us after breakfast the next morning, it was somewhere in the back out of sight. 6. The window in our bedroom faced a scruby bush. We enquired about a room with a view, the housekeeper had to phone the property owner and then showed us another room with a children's loft, not quite what we had in mind, so we chose to stick with the initial room.7. We were told on arrival that the property owner was out but would return shortly. We stayed for 6 nights but never got to be introduced or welcomed by the owner. We saw a new face on one of the mornings before breakfast, but just assumed that perhaps she was the owner or the owner's wife. No introductions. Met a polite daughter at some stage who said she was asked to attend to us when checking out because the owner was away for the weekend. 8. Just an observation which seemed a bit awkward: there were 2 national flags flying on the premises in front of the courtyard: one for Australia and one for Greece; no South African flag anywhere in sight.9. Would I visit again , I would like to; would I recommend to others , I would hesitate to recommend to anyone with prior 4 star or higher service experience. There is room for improvement particularly in the area of communication, etiquette and professionalism. Hoping our experience was not based on having been typecast on face value. 10. On the positive side, the outside view of the panorama was unique; the quietness and room comfort was refreshing; the garden was beautiful though downplayed; location access to local shops and restaurants a few minutes drive away was convenient."

"This was my second stay at Mont Paradiso and they yet again exceeded my expectations. Comfortable rooms, friendly staff, and a view to envy. I will definitely be back."

  • "Service above and beyond"

"Our hosts went over and above to provide us the best possible experience. From allowing us to check in early and catch our breath and a nap before the funeral (we had flown 24 hours for), to the superb vegetarian breakfasts each morning. They were welcoming, kind and caring."
