Val du Charron Guesthouse is located on a working farm in the heart of the Bovlei valley ten minutes from the town of Wellington and less than an hour's drive from Cape Town.
The Guesthouse comprises eight luxurious suites each with stunning views of the vineyards/garden and the Hawekwa Mountains.
Our four star accommodation is made up of a large family room, four double rooms and three twin rooms on a bed and breakfast basis with the option of dinner available. Guests can enjoy a full farmers breakfast served in the dining area, which integrates with the wine/olive tasting facility and allows guests to access the working cellar during the day.
During Wellington's hot summer months a swimming pool is available for the use of our guests. An a la carte menu is available for lunches. During the winter months large fire places with couches provide ambiance for board games or reading from our extensive library while sipping on a glass of Val du Charron's premium wine.
The original farm was proclaimed in 1699 and, as only the fifth family to hold title, the owners are conscious to maintain its historic integrity and re-establish the tradition of wine making on the farm itself. This can be evidenced in the rehabilitation of the historic buildings and the character of the architecture of the Guesthouse.
"This guest house has the most spectacular setting but all the lack of charm and attention to detail one can expect from a very commercial establishment. The staff are very friendly but are clearly not well trained. Apart from the view, I found the whole experience extremely basic. I booked my my visit for a last minute work trip and received a substantially discounted rate, I would have felt ripped off had I paid full price."
"Friendly staff. Great views. Peaceful."
"Overall our stay was pleasant but some aspects were disappointing in comparison to our previous stay two years ago. The Manageress was very accommodating and the wine, views and food (breakfast) was great. However enjoying the pool whilst wine tasting was impossible as non-resident youngsters, at Val du Charron for the afternoon, monopolized the pool enjoying their wine in the pool and playing music on their phone and the following day we were asked to vacate our room well before check-out time. Otherwise our stay was very relaxing and enjoyable."
