Africas Eden is a two-acre estate situated along a small green belt wedged between two streams - hardly what you would expect to find a mere 2.5 km from the centre of town. Accommodation comprises six units, each with a private entrance, en-suite bathroom, air-conditioning, ceiling fan, fridge, microwave oven, two-plate hob stove, kettle, toaster, and all self-catering cutlery and crockery.
For those who prefer to have breakfast served to them, we offer either a health or a full English breakfast in the dining room with a view or outside on one of the patios. For dinner, we are located within walking distance from three of the best restaurants in Pietermaritzburg. Relax on the banks of the stream, or for the more energetic, try a game of tennis on the secluded court, take walk in the gardens, or swim in the large pool. Avid bird watchers will feast their senses on the rich variety of resident and visiting birds, ranging from raptors to the rarely seen Buffspotted Flufftail.
We are ideally situated just a stone's throw away from most of the major event locations. The start of the Comrades Marathon, the famous Duzi Canoe Marathon, golf courses, the downhill cycling tracks at Cascades, BMX at the Oval, and bowling greens are among the sports facilities in the area.
"The place is nice and comfortable . The room was not necessarily 100% spotless clean.I think it is best for when one needs a place to sleep when they are in an emergency situation. Did not like the rules given to me felt like a first year student at a boarding school.<div><br /></div><div><div><em>Establishment's Response:</em></div><div><em><br /></em></div><div><em>Dear Nthabiseng</em></div><div><em>We were greatly distressed to find your negative review, as all our guests love what we have to offer and keep coming back time and time again! Your response when I showed you through your unit was one of delight, which leaves me even more puzzled at your "vague" complaints. Our cleaners are amazing and Gianni personally checks each unit before new guests arrive. Cleanliness is often on list of compliments we receive! I pointed out to you our list of "rules and regulations" which covers the basics and is in keeping with all Hospitality Establishments, in order to protect and ensure all guests enjoy their stay. I do not know whether you were offended by the clause that only paying guests who have booked in are allowed on property,</em></div><div><em>as you had a few people in your vehicle? I would advise that perhaps a Hotel would be better suited to your needs as the general public have access to their visitor's lounges and rooms. We apologize if your stay was not to your satisfaction.</em></div><div><em>Best wishes.</em></div></div>"
"Neat, comfortable and friendly in a lovely setting."
"Would recommend Africa's Eden to anyone although it is not a B&B as the name indicates but it does make provision for self catering guests. Comfortable and convenient, we'll definitely stay there again."
"This venue is a totally misnamed. It is far from Eden, old, dank with a filthy bathroom sink - and not even a bed and breakfast- when asking what time breakfast was we were told there was none " not included in our quote" so why is it a B&B? We arrived 2 hours late (we called repeatedly and kept our arrival time known) as one our party was stuck in a 3 hour traffic jam caused by a fatal accident in Pretoria, all the rude so called "hosts" were interested in was getting a R150 for the inconvenience of walking five yards from their front door to the room door- even to the point of being threatened by a very aggressive dog - NOT RECOMMENDED AT ALL."
