Our Guests - Our Friends
That is our motto and we live by it. Since the establishment of Rustic Butler in 2009 we have improved, improvised, renovated, extended, and just simply got better, and are looking forward to hosting you!
Covid-19 forced us to make a lot of changes because your health is important to us!
We will do our utmost best to ensure a safe and hygienic stay. We have taken all the necessary hygienic measures to minimize the threat and to protect our guests and will be ready to host from 1 May 2020.
This virus will not disappear overnight, and we have rethought the services we offer. Request our special offer during May, June and July.
Breakfast (Extra R120,00 per person)
We will be serving breakfast in our dining room or packed as a breakfast-on-the-go.
Dinner on request (R190,00 per person)
A home-cooked meal is specifically prepared to meet guests needs while they relax in our 4-star facility.
When it is safe to do so, the guests may be invited to join me in the kitchen while I am cooking with a glass of wine!
Location
Rustic Butler is perfectly situated in a residential area of White River. We are within reach of the Kruger National Park ( 45 km from nearest camp), Blyde River Canyon, and the warm waters of Maputo, yet at the same time close to the lively city of Nelspruit. Riverside and Ilanga malls with their shops, restaurants and movies are 12 km to 18 km away and Casterbridge with its art, cinema, and restaurant a mere six minutes.
A new shopping center in White River with all the necessary shops was completed in August 2019.
White River is also a mecca for artists with the likes of Zakkie Eloff and Esias Bosch. For adrenaline junkies, Induna Adventures is the company to contact for anything from the Big Swing in Graskop (40 km), river-rafting, zip-lining, kloofing to geckoing. A local company offers trips to the Kruger National Park and Panorama Trail.
After a short drive to Sudwala Caves, you can explore the insides of the mountain and afterwards go back in time at the Dinosaur Park. Kaapsehoop is known for its wild horses and has the reputation of snow in winter.
The area boasts numerous cultural and sports festivals throughout the year: Innibos, Panorama, Jock and Uplands Festival are extremely popular. The local schools, Rob Ferreira, White River Primary, Flamboyant School, Penryn, Curro, Nelspruit Horskool, Bergvlam, Lowveld High, Nelspruit Laerskool and Laeveld Akademie are known to host rugby-, hockey-, netball- and cricket festivals. Mountain biking and hiking is just two of the many activities happening in and around White River!
We have fantastic restaurants in White River: Picassos, Magnolia, Olivers, Gumtreez, Loose Mongoose, Zannas, Sip and 24 on Coolmore to name but a few.
"Babra was great. Beautiful gardens. Quite and was a great place for the Bride to get dress. Was friendly. Breakfast was great."
"Dear Barbara. This is my feedback on our experience at your establishment.

With only the forth international game hosted in Mbombela one may have had expected for small local businesses in and around the area to be a lot more accommodating, particularly given what the hospitality industry has had to endure during COVID

One generally expects a breakfast to be served at a B&B. We had been asked if we would want breakfast which we had confirmed. But to be told upon checking in that breakfast would not be possible since there was a family birthday party taking place in the morning. So it was suggested by the owner that perhaps we dont have breakfast. If you knew that you were having family visiting from Ireland then surely communicate that to your team and your guests before their arrival so that there is absolutely no expectation. Or at the very least make an alternate arrangement or suggestion of other local eateries. Just common service delivery expectations I guess.

Whilst the one reason for selecting this B&B was the cleanliness rating, the shower floor was black with mould. Clearly it had not been cleaned in a very long time. Not to mention the cockroach in the bathroom that was completely off-putting - I guess this was the reason for the can of doom that had been placed in the room.

Certainly not an establishment that Id recommend.

Establishments response:

Dear Theresa, herewith my answer on your lengthy comment.

Yes, you are right we struggled with Covid, but we are back up and running since 2021.
I do apologise for the breakfast issue but in your communication with Barbara, you said that it would be alright since it was my son and granddaughters birthdays I might also add that we have not seen then for more than a year. But I apologise.
White River is a lively little town with loads of eateries and fabulous coffee shops all of which is in the file that was placed on your bed.
This room is the most popular room it is also our pride and joy. Im sorry that you feel that the shower floor was black with mould and that it has not been cleaned for a very long time but I took a picture the day that we received your whatsapp. (attached). Our tiles and showers are scrubbed after every guest and deep-cleaned every second week. Unless you mistook the few grey and black tiles as mould?
As for the cockroach we live in the Lowveld we have bugs and insects we are surrounded by forests and mountains. Im sorry that the cockroach was in your bathroom you should have called me, and I would have removed it for you. Doom, mosquito machines and mosquito rub are a standard issue in all our rooms, as well as in our house, our bedroom, TV room etc.
Again, I apologise for the breakfast that I did not serve.
I hope your next experience in the Lowveld will be more satisfying."
"The accommodation was not to bad, but closing door by bathroom needed and blinds over kitchen window. Main bed definitely needs replacing."
"Our stay at Rustic Butler was absolutely wonderful! The breakfasts were incredible, with pancakes, eggs benedict and gourmet French toast being just a few of the delicious breakfasts we were given (despite being in a self-catering unit). Annelize and her team were so welcoming and even organised a romantic evening for us on our last night, including champagne, rose petals and a picnic for two. All this at no cost; just to make our last night special. The room was lovely and the hosting impeccable! I will definitely visit again!"
"Room very clean, love the sjerry and chocolates"
"Had the most incredible stay at the Rustic Butler. Annelize was warm and welcoming. We had the honeymoon suite and when we got back from having supper. The room was prepared with flowers, gowns, chocolates, music and bath. It was incredibly romantic. The suite is huge and clean and modern. We would definitely stay here again."
"We were very welcome by Annelize and Danie and spoiled with a scrumptious breakfast every morning!
The room was spacious and we had a wonderful big bed and a heater for the bathroom.
We hope to be back there soon again!
Thank you for your fabulous hospitality!"
"From the moment we arrived Annelize was on hand to attend to our every need. Our rooms were superbly fitted out and the food was terrific. I highly recommend Rustic Butler to travellers seeking a boutique experience with an extra touch."
"We had a wonderful stay at Rustic Butler. Annelize and her family made us so welcome. We shall definitely be back to stay for longer than one night next time, and recommend our friends to do the same. Thank you Annelize."
